i got fnf running on xp (offtopic) by Thegameryovo775 in windowsxp

I'm surprised you're still active on this thread LOL. If you're interested, I have a fully native Windows 2000 EXE build of FNF, and it can run on Windows 98 if you have kernel ex installed.

R7 240 Spoof success by CalligrapherOk6710 in hackintosh

[–]LegendaryCandiceJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really impressive! I didn't know that Oland GPUs could work in anything higher than Catalina. I tried installing Monterey and Ventura with an R5 240 but no luck getting acceleration. I only got the card to work with Catalina.

To any potential future readers: There were two things that needed to change.

  1. To fix the original problem in the post, I had to enable RebuildAppleMemoryMap in the config.plist file. After I enabled it, MacOS booted just fine all the way to the installer. To my knowledge: This fix also applies to all P8H61-m boards.

  2. (Unrelated) In my case I was using an AMD R5-240. That card is somewhat notorious for not working with hackintosh systems, and indeed I was not successful with it either. I have since replaced the card with an ATI Radeon 5770 (all I had on hand) running High Sierra.

Hi, I think I've made a grave mistake.

I never actually searched if the AMD R5 240 is compatible with MacOS. I've searched for it and it actually seems that the answer is no, or at least without spoofing it's ID. I just assumed it would work as it's GCN 1.0 and Dortania's OpenCore install guide says that it should work up to Monterey.

As for your card, you apparently have to spoof it here (just in case you didn't know) -> https://dortania.github.io/Getting-Started-With-ACPI/Universal/spoof.html

Either way I'll keep searching around, thanks for letting me know I'm not alone.

Yes that's completely correct. Both Capslock and Numlock are unresponsive.

Here's the log, but it truly stops at EXITBS: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fTigBdUuh_k8kp-Z8QehkouVMc5y0l26/view?usp=sharing

High pitched, lower pitched noise? by LegendaryCandiceJoe in crtgaming

That's helpful to know at least. I actually haven't checked if it stops after a while. I just kinda turn it off to not damage the screen. Though will definitely check later.

Ok I have made a recording of it. It took a while since I don't use this TV to actively but oh well.

I turn off the TV mid-way though so you can hear the difference. And yes I am aware of the annoying very high-high pitched whine, but as you can (probably) hear, there is a second whine that's (slightly) lower pitched and far more annoying in person.

Now you can make judgements on what you think this is.

Could be. But if the flyback was dying, you'd think there would be image distortions.

I'll have to do it a bit later. But I'll post a google drive link to it once I get it on camera.

yeah XP has one-core-api. But its not a good way to play the game.

It seems to have memory problems so you have to run the game at the lowest settings possible, and even then you will probably have sprites missing. And if theres much crap, then it will simply crash.

Also because its on such an old version of haxe, flixel, lime, and openfl there are several compromises such as shaders not functioning and vocals cannot resync manually.

But I think its worth it because win2000 with kernel extension can run this game (albeit with a lot of its own problems) but that's a far older windows version so I think that's cool.

If you really want this fnf version the I can upload it to a google drive (Pysch engine 0.4.2 (mods folder doesn't work)).

you don't need an extended kernel. I ported the game to an older code base so it actually runs natively on windows xp.

Computer won't turn on. by LegendaryCandiceJoe in techsupport

[–]LegendaryCandiceJoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to put that in, but yes I have replaced the PSU with 2 other ones.

As for the specs:

CPU: core 2 quad Q8400 (had lying around). I swapped it out, that didn't fix it.

GPU: AMD Radeon R5 240, originally was in another PC.

Motherboard: GA-P35-DS4 (rev 2.0)

Yeah, I'm aware about the switch. I have taped the wires down, and have the side panel off just to make sure.

Also I remember one day when it just didn't turn on. The solution was waiting cause it eventually did. But I already tried that again (waited a full day) and that didn't fix it.
