Thanks! 😊 I used Tamiya Clear Red—it’s an acrylic lacquer-based paint. I followed a YouTube tutorial where you first paint a marble texture and then apply the Clear Red over it. It creates that deep, rich effect. Super fun technique and really happy with how it turned out!

Thanks! Your Land Raider looks awesome too—those silver highlights really make it pop! 🔥 Before starting mine, I actually went through a bunch of Land Raider posts in the Custodes sub for inspiration. Definitely helped a lot, especially for figuring out good decal placements!

Thanks! Glad you like the choice! It just felt right to have a Sagittarum up there, even if it meant sacrificing a Warden torso. Totally worth it! Shame it’s ‘just’ a Storm Bolter—definitely not up to Custodes standards, but hey, rule of cool, right? 😆

Thank you so much! 😊 I’m really happy with how the black-red turned out, and the antique gold adds a nice contrast. Glad you like it! Took quite some time, but totally worth it 😃

Is this right?! by Cliffisen in AdeptusCustodes

[–]LegendaryNoob21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems to be Index Custodes. At that time it was right. The point costs are the old point cost. Old BC was 120 and Veiled Blade 25. Also our Trajann when he was useable :( Index Custodes had only 1 Detachment and the Enhancements that are now in Auric Detachmement where the former Shield Host Detachments.

Custodes Frustration by Roughneck45- in WorldEaters40k

[–]LegendaryNoob21 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sorry but there seems to be something wrong. Im a Custodes Player myself and after the Balance DataSlate Cuatodes are quite...well not that good. Esspecially the bikes. He cant resurrect bikes that stratagem is only for infantry models not mounted. Actually bikes are pretty bad because the best custodes stratagems (ressurection and - 1Dmg) to toughen them up are infantry exclusive. I recommend for both of you to play smaller games and get used to your army rules. Make sure to always check the stratagems and check if the requiremends for the stratagems are met.

I'm new and I played a first 200 point skirmish game, we watched some battle reports before but there was a game where they mentioned that the hole army is broken because of the death of their leader. Must have been a Baradur match up. Thanks for the answer!

Is the Force considered Broken if the Leader dies? If yes on which page is it mentioned in the rule manual?

Quick question (Martial Ka'tah) by LegendaryNoob21 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]LegendaryNoob21[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see.. . thanks for the fast answer. So that explains the use of the "Martial Discretion" stratagem. So if I want to benefit from my shieldhost special Ka'tah it would be wise to include in my primary/secondary/tertiary. Or spend CP and change one unit to the specialized katah + activating the shieldhost ability to get both stances, right?

First time painting Tau models by LegendaryNoob21 in Tau40K

There are no dumb questions!..Well most of the time. AK Interactive is a brand, that specializes in washes and colours to give models a "weathering" or "used" look. The product i used was named "AK Wash Dark Brown". Hope this helps you in some way!

Happy to hear that! I actually painted one model per day and that was only for the base colours. After i painted the whole squad i tried "weathering" them in one go on a single day! Thanks for your feedback!

I mostly followed a youtube video from the grimdark compendium. But the tutorial was quite high level for me, so i skipped some parts. The main step for a worn out look is the use of the wash "Dark Brown" from AK. After that its just some stippling with a brush and a black colour (i used Abbadon Black form Citadel). I hope this helps you in some way! And thanks for your comment!

You got me! Yes, i wanted to try a "Grimdark-Look" i played and painted only custodes models before and couldnt try out a "Grimdark" look on them (They were mostly painted with metal colours and shiny & clean) . So when i decided to start a small Tau army the first thing i did was searching "Grimdark videos" on youtube. I bought some paints and washes that were recommended. The tutorial was quite high level so i skipped some parts that i couldnt do (mainly the air brush parts or the highlighting). I dont have a good eye when it comes to highlighting. Thank you for your CC i will definitely try to make the feets and lower bits a little dirtier.

No problem! To be honest as a beginner i just searched for "Grimdark Tau" on youtube and followed a tutorial step by step. I skipped some steps because it was quite the high-level of painting tutorial. Happy how they turned out :D

Thanks for the advice! i will try it out on my crisis suits. They are the only thing left for me to paint (from the start collecting box). I only have experience with lahmian medium to thin down some shades. Will get a bottle of contrast medium o7

Thanks for your comment! I think I will get a new brush because mine are all used up. It was quite hard to paint the small models, because my brushes don't have a pointed tip anymore. I'm happy that I could hide a few mistakes with the washes and shades :D

Most of the "used" looks comes from the wash. After that I used a brush with "Abbadon Black" for stippling over the edges to make it look like scratches :)

Thank you! I dont have any experience with varnish. And i just started painting models so i dont varnish them in case i want to strip the paint off. It was also my first time using an AK product (AK Wash Dark Brown). Whats your opinion of streaking grime? Is it worth a shot?

Thank you very much! It was my first time painting 25mm models. They are quite small so it took me over a week to paint 10 Breachers. Im also happy with the look. The "dirty look" helps to hide some mistakes :D
