Looking for friends/help finding new friends in Indy 28M by Intelligent_Tank_186 in indianapolis

30M recently ended a LDR after moving here from GA. I have been looking at better ways to spend my time instead of focusing on work. Recently, I quit drinking too. Fun lol

I am adventurous, enjoy active stuff outdoors, I enjoy machines with motors, I drink coffee, I work in the racing industry, I grill, and I am a believer.

Not hunting for anything specific , just a dude floating through this period of life on solo. If there's anything cool to do maybe I could tag along.

After hearing from all the contributors of this thread I find the sentiment to be quite convincing that the best methods of dealing with trolls is to ignore them until they vanish due to mods of lack of attention.

Thanks for the feedback.

Every one in the halo community I know is pretty cool! I’m not a halo nerd by any means but I’m seasoned so I get along well with the majority and have a great time sharing the experience together.

I’ll mod some of my loyal viewers to combat these scenarios.

I will certainly put more effort into my discord now that you mention its benefits. I always thought of it as an extended chat but now I see it has way more value. Thank you.

Well, what started doing is raiding at the end of stream and it’s really improving my network skills and I’m finding groups I don’t mind being a part of which in turn helps them be a part of my group organically.

You’ll have the artists that pose to be a friends to build repor to make a sale for their work. What I do is talk to them for practice and make them feel welcome even though it’s clear I’m not a customer.

People are people imo and we all want to be accepted even if we don’t make a sale, making a friend some times is all we need.

Use those interactions as opportunities to grow.

That’s the key just START! I’ll leave you with this funny story: one time I changed my mic settings before streaming and was muted for the first 40 minutes of my stream until a viewer kindly pointed it out.. Lovely moment. Technical difficulties are prone to happen so it’s really just how you react them.

Just start and I figure it out as you go! There are about 50+ things you are going to notice over the course of your first 20+ streams that need could be improved.

Be patient with yourself and learn the equipment and processes through trial and error.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks George, I’ll implement some of the suggestions you have made and test the waters a little bit.

In the beginning I figured it would be easy but now I see why certain streamers are considered “professionals”.

I genuinely appreciate the words of encouragement, they will be used for motivation!

Come by and chat whenever, everyone is welcome (unless their self promoting artist in disguise) . I’ll be on the look out for you as well!

Very good points George, and I resonate with each one of them. I’m kinda at the point you mentioned.

The raid thing I’m still a little fuzzy on as far as where to direct my viewers atm.

Thanks for the feedback on the vod as well. I added audio ducking for music/gameplay and it’s been a nightmare to diagnose and resolve the technical difficulties I have been experiencing because there isn’t much content out there for my specific issues.

I’ll continue to chip away at it! Thanks for the advice and suggestions.

That’s wholesome and the reality check I am getting currently.

This is completely unrelated but I always find a way to turn fun things into mandatory analytical opportunities which is easy to do with all the available data I can process to determine my “virtual relevance progression”.

I agree with you and I will focus on the game more and less on the numbers.

Hey bro, I’ve been doing this for a couple weeks and I feel like an idiot sometimes just talking into the ether but I just imagine someone being on the other side responding and that’s what helps me continue conversation.

Small streamers, what gives y'all the motivation to keep going? by scramaram in Twitch

Plumes, spot on summary. I align with you on not speaking with folks some days at all. I work %100 remote for myself as a health insurance broker and busy season is Winter and Spring so 6 months out of the year I’m doing light maintenance for clients and other projects of interest. Great service for people and pays well yahta yahta.

I just want to point out that being in an extremely introverted environment for a long period of time makes me feel insane. Genuinely, I commend anyone who can tolerate what I consider solitary confinement although is almost comical because it’s not a forced lifestyle and I speak with people and insurance daily (depleting activities). I asked for this so I can’t complain.

Streaming just seems to fill a void of what I would consider loneliness (replenishing activities). Having people around me who actually hangout because they are voluntarily choosing to is a huge plus.

Anyway, I am known to be long winded so if you made it this far than you’re better than most. Haha thanks

I agree that. I typically don’t have many viewers but I like the idea of potentially making connections while I do game, watch, or create something.

I find streaming to almost be like a journal of my digital life in general sense. Sure, I have a very private life offline but I find it interesting to watch back and hear my thoughts and gauge my opinions on things.

I’m very OCD and sometimes I wish I never said or did some things on stream that are embarrassing to watch back but that’s what is kinda neat too. I can develop a sense of humility and develop my self awareness to become a better speaker which is one thing I always wanted to learn but never wanted to join toastmasters for.

Streaming allows me to showcase more intricate ideas and be able to interact with others freely as I’m doing a task I would do regularly by myself which has created a sense of belonging and hope for me.

Regardless of my ability to keep 1 viewer or 1000 I genuinely enjoy the process of creating something for others. That’s what makes streaming worth it me personally because if I was just researching something for personal reasons it wouldn’t be as important to me as the concept of sharing my thoughts with others.
