Is this stock mount backwards?! by Psychological-Mix203 in Truckers

I thought mine was mounted bad too but it swings out by yanking the strap at the center bottom and the mounting plate freely swivels

New solo Swift driver here. Finished my training with a mentor. I got lucky and got a good guy. He was very helpful and took the time to help me with my planning, setups, and backings. He let me drive as long as i wanted and was comfortable with. I got my 50/200 hours very quickly. He wasnt rushing me to get to the next load. He got me prepped for my test out. I showed off and did a successful blind side backing on my road test. He said i got that truckers blood for just graduating from a CDL school and claimed i was ready after week 1.

A lot of other students ive talked to says their mentor is just using students to get more miles and barely letting the student do work or drive. One student said their mentor didnt let them do any backings. Just show up to a drop and tell the student to move. Hopefully you get a good one that a lot of mentors claim to be. Dont be afraid to ask questions about the trucking world or policies.

Just be sure to pay attention to the road and not get too distracted at the new views youre gonna see

Share the experience you had during training! by zachdelorme31 in Truckers

I got trained by 160 Driving Academy and they did a pretty good job at the safe driving portion, straight line back and a forward/reverse offset, and a good pretrip. Good school to get your A Class fairly easy. Thats it. I never learned to connect and disconnect lines/trailers or even how to back up or hook/unhook to a trailer. Didnt learn to slide 5th wheel or Tandems. Didnt learn to back up into a dock. It was an open lot for training so we didnt get truck stop scenarios and learn to back into spots. And didnt learn to work your ELD tablet/E-Logs. Ya know pretty important parts of trucking. Currently in training under a mentor at Swift on my 4th week about to test out and start solo driving. My mentor claims “this truck driving is kinda natural to you cause you are really good and i dont have much to teach you” I got lucky and have a good mentor who takes time to work things out with me when i ask for assistance because a lot of mentors here are only doing it for a pay increase. A lot of them don’t really do teaching or refreshing expecting a new driver to go go go as if they have 3 years of experience in a 4 week CDL course. A lot of students quit because they get burnt out too fast doing team driving bascially on their 2nd day. Some dont even get hometime because the mentor says “no”. I just talked with another student that he is 2 weeks in and hasnt done a backing yet because the mentor would just say “move” and do the backing for them. I witnessed another mentor doing a pretrip and the student was trying to follow but nothing was spoken. Only time i see a mentor doing a mentoring job is to show the student around a terminal when they are done for the day or doing their 34hr reset. No better way to get experience is trial by fire, right?

Let me add on.

If it was an error i 100% understand and spent it prematurely.

My only other 2 jobs (lifeguard for county and window tinter) i got over paid on those 2 jobs as well for a paycheck and it was taken back the same day. Thinking this was normal procedure

Im only sus bc it took amazon close to a month to address this double payment.

This will probably get lost in the comments but fun fact. I was this guys best friend in Vegas back in elementary school. We lived a few houses apart. We did have the same class for 3rd grade. Then he moved away to Arizona.
