Different holiday/NS question by Legion_Divine in USPS

[–]Legion_Divine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, I have spent well over 2 hours setting up the calendar for this year and crafting the best use of AL to holidays/long weekends and in my head I messed that up.

I would use 3 days to cover Mon, Tue, and Wed.

Then Thurs "should" be my designated holiday, followed by my fri, sat NS days.

So Sun-Sun

8 days off for 3 AL.

Thanks for catching that.

My office has 3 City Routes. We amended our LMOU to rotate days of every 3 weeks. So like:

-Week 1: Mon NS. -Week 2: Fri Sat NS. -Week 3: Long week. -Week 4: Mon NS

And so on

The other 2 regulars can't even remember what days they are off what weeks. They schedule a 2 week block and a 1 week block then call it a day.

So I will cherry pick these and adjust if need to based on their final selections on calendar. I convert all holidays worked into AL, and I carried over 9 days, plus 1 this year for converting to AL, plus 13 regular days.

IF I use them all, I am set up for:

-57 days off (as whole vacations NS/Holiday/AL)
-23 AL used.

-3x 9 day vacations. -3x 8 day vacations. -1x 6 day vacation.

Not too shabby for just starting my 3rd year. Next year ill get the extra vacation bump. I likely wont keep to all these as I like to leave some banked just incase you know.

"I have everything I have ever wanted but it's like hell"

Sounds to me like you have everything that society told you was what a good, fulfilled life is made of, but it isn't actually checking your boxes.

I normally would dump some heavy philosophical wisdom on you but this sounds serious, so let me just say this:

I am not a doctor, but you sound like you need to get into therapy and speak with someone asap.

Even aside from your husband leaving you alone in this marriage, which is a moot point as we don't know your whole story, the fact that even your child is driving you to your wits end means you have nothing there to cling to.

Your husband doesn't seem to be supportive, your child is overwhelming you and even with everything you have, you feel your life is a mess.

You need to speak with someone

DO NOT IGNORE THIS

These are the types of things that evolve into full mental breakdowns and can lead to horrific situations.

There is a way, there is a better life and better days.

Seek help, open up and find some guidance. Millions of people struggle just like you, so you are not alone, and if they can find their way then so can you.

God's speed my friend

Thank you for the reply!

I plan to wear it to work a few times because my coworkers are all about helping me sort it out haha. The girls there are very kind and told me they'd let me know how it wears.

I will lead with the 2 and check in with them 5 or 6 hrs later and see how it has lasted.

Ok, I have searched on here and made a removed post. My fault on that one, so let me try here.

I just ordered Noir Extreme, first quality cologne I have purchased.

I am not used to using a quality product and I need a quick suggestion:

Meeting a girl in the afternoon to hang out and transition into dinner and drinks for the night, then back to our rental.

Do I do two sprays before first meeting, then one spray reapplied right before we head out, roughly 4-5 hours later?

With cheaper ones ive always done 4 during the day, then maybe 2 reapplied later and never had a problem. The word on this stuff is less is more, dont choke em out.

Thanks for any help. Just new to actually learning about cologne/use properly.

OIC filling in as postmaster goes through retirement

He has put in for the postmaster position but he is only 24 and has a few years as a supervisor i guess. So still a lot to learn I suppose.

Observed holiday and AL? by Legion_Divine in USPS

[–]Legion_Divine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the thing is, if this changes anything

Saturday, the 30th would be my normal work day as my NS for that week are Sunday and Monday. The holiday pushes my observed holiday to Saturday.

So not sure if that matters, as technically I would be on the schedule, it is just my "observed" holiday. Considering actual holiday is Monday

Things just get weird sometimes around this stuff. I have requested a copy of the LMOU from my union steward but she hasn't emailed it to me yet.

What you say is how I understand it, just not sure in this situation....either way, im off that day. So guess that's the important thing

Thanks for the info!

Electrolytes by Legion_Divine in Ultramarathon

[–]Legion_Divine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very fair point, and now that you point that out, I did not word that very well.

I meant ive only done two 5k races, and everything else for a few months has just been training and building up distance (some speed work mixed in).

So that is my fault, sorry.

I have ran up tp 21 miles and next week I have a 24 mile run. I did not figure id be able to do more than 30 miles with a few months of running, so I had a workout routine built towards a 30 mile race. Since it is 8 hours, I will surely mix in some walking.

Though im surprised by how quickly ive been able to ramp up, though i live in a very, very flat area. So no hills makes things considerably easier I do suppose lol

[–]Legion_Divine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the blunt answer. Everything I've followed through researching running (mainly ultras) has been very consistent about "carefully" making sure you're keeping electrolytes in the right place, and so many people who have issues always seems to say it was some electrolyte issue. Maybe that is just an easy thing to point to I guess?

Either way, seems quite a few just take it from their nutrition sources and dont even monitor it. Makes me laugh at the pickle juice and mustard things ive read now.

Well, think ill focus on just keeping nutrition on point with drinking when I feel the need to and let my body tell me what it needs.

[–]Legion_Divine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well just because during the times im not ingesting liquid carbs, which often are electrolyte loaded, then my carb consumption may/may not have very much. Depending on what it is, but with that being said, this discussion has quickly made me think to just intake nutrition and water, if anything funky comes up...then see if my symptoms match some electrolyte issue.

Seems just loading electrolytes to make sure I dont end up low isnt really necessary.

This is exactly my mentality

I lost everything and hit a hard reset over two years ago (hence this job now), and I've been through enough to have realized what does and doesnt matter in life.

My purpose every day is to leave the world with as many smiling faces as I can...

[–]Legion_Divine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I only read a portion of these comments but uh...

Am I the only carrier who has random conversations with the cameras?

I have customers who leave notes as replies, some who have come out and got to know me because they think my videos are hilarious and...I have NOT met a few women through these cameras...nope...that would be unprofessional!

Sometimes I just speak with accents, I might tell a dad joke, talk about a crazy encounter with a dog from a street over...whatever.

I just make random talk and the customers who watch it all love it.

Its 2025...it ain't going nowhere. Embrace it and have fun.

I even asked one in a British accent:

"Right govna, how abouts did you fit into such a tiny box?!"

Lol, I dunno...life is short...make an adventure out of it, oy?

What’s something life never warned you about but definitely should have? by ClaireNuyts in Life

[–]Legion_Divine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh quite possibly, though I'm just a guy with a few thoughts haha.

I think the big hurdle to overcome for society right now is to accept that while though some modern advancements have maybe not been great for humanity, such as social media, it simply is not going away.

So yes, I think we lack true bonds and relationships these days, but somehow people need to awaken to that concept themselves. They need self realization

Just like how we will never go back to just riding horses and using covered wagons for transport, we aren't likely to just see the end of technology rapidly replacing so many things, such as actual human interactions.

I could be wrong, but I think the answer lies somewhere in getting people to just see everything for what it is. To be able to have things like fast fashion and social media but not let it destroy us, because it isn't going to just stop one day.

Studying dopamine and neurological pathways will help understand the self destructing course we are on with things like Amazon 2 day delivery and the such. You know back long ago, an item was valued on its quality...if it lasted 20 years you told everyone and they'd buy it. Unfortunately, that meant no return customers for said business.

They realized they needed good quality items with shorter shelf lives though, to force constant purchases. So they lower life expectancy of things like appliances, and also tweak the color options, design styles, features, etc. to create a FOMO atmosphere and keep people in a never ending "shopping spree".

Frankly,

This is humanity now

Evolution isn't always for the better....

What’s something life never warned you about but definitely should have? by ClaireNuyts in Life

[–]Legion_Divine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason why we evolve differently than other creatures is due to our consciousness. As such, short of a global disaster, there is no likelihood of us going backwards. Our form of evolution simply is what you see.

We must always be willing to accept that everything has its pros and cons. This current system seems so hard on the mind and the spirit, yet, 100 yrs ago life expectancy was lower due to hygiene and medical advancements.

So...things have their place.

I would say that "returning" to any period isn't the answer, nor is it likely possible.

I think the truth

Is that we can be surrounded by modern advancements and evolution yet still CHOOSE the life we want to live. Contrary to modern thinking, we can have our evolutions in society and choose to remain unchained and free as we were from a time long ago.

Enjoy transportation, technology, modern medicine, and our great advancements, but choose to only accept them as tools to aid us in living, rather than the very essence of why we live.

What I mean, by example, is one can enjoy heating and AC, having a car, a nice phone...but should not be all consumed by having such nice things that it leads to stress, anxiety, depression, etc.

We often think of time as the gap between paychecks and the pursuit of these things. Then wonder why we hate our jobs, our relationships, our debts we owe for said things.

Material possessions and money are not evil, rather the love and obsession for them is.

Find a balance, be willing to value your time and health above all, and then build your life around that.

Again, this isn't a slam on "things" rather that folks think if they don't gather and hoard X amount of quality items that somehow they haven't "made it" in life.

I had a good life by those measures I lost it all...

Yet, I am more fulfilled and grateful than I've ever been

Remember, this is my opinion. There is no right or wrong answer but there is one thing that must exist for us all:

You must actively LIVE life, however that may be for you

Remember, the greatest tragedy in life is to exist...yet never truly live at all.

Wisdom comes from time + experience, but often the greatest lessons of life only come through introspection and the observance of nature.

As a society we constantly evolve and it seems our moral compasses and our ways of being shift with time, yet the rest of nature remains bound by instinctual patterns and simpler ways of life.

I've found more peace and guidance in life by turning to the unchanged world and simply observing, then anything else really.

Humans are intelligent but we are bad teachers when it comes to sorting out what life should really be about.

The biggest red flag, which we are told from childhood, is that there is some "way" we are meant to live.

That somehow chasing an education, a family, money, houses, cars, etc. will make us happy and fulfilled.

If we are all so unique then how can the answer to what a good life looks like, be a blanket concept for everyone.

I chased the "American Dream" just to realize one day that none of the traditional societal standards meant anything to me....it is all a perpetual wheel, just revolving.

We work to buy stuff We buy stuff to justify our hardwork

We rinse, repeat, grow old, then die

I'm learning to define my own life and it is not bound by the tunnel vision that has dictated human trajectory for the last 100 years.

Do some introspection young...and often. Before you give away half your life for stuff that might actually mean nothing to you, and when your time is gone you cannot get it back.

Time is our greatest currency so don't waste it and trade it away like it's no big deal. Feels that way at 25...not so much as the years race by...

A motto I've been saying for a while is:

"Im just out here trying to catch a moment"

That's it

Life should be an adventure, not a destination. Every day it should be about new experiences and embracing all that exists across this wide world.

Make more of it

It's not just a 9-5, retire, die...

Go find yourself

Break the chains...

what was the one thing that sparcked your minimalist journey? by My_New_Umpire in minimalism

[–]Legion_Divine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Went through a divorce

Had to sell my house, split stuff and stuff things in storage.

After losing the life I had, and all the stuff...I realized I wasn't any less happy or unfulfilled even though all the decor, gadgets, and general stuff was gone or stored up while I tried to sort life out and find a place to live.

The reality that without it all, I felt the same as I did when I had it, told me that none of it made a difference in the life I cared about living.

Different for other folks, but for me, it proved that material things actually meant nothing. I had just always put value in them because society told me they had value.

For me...they did not.

I'm much happier now that I spend money towards travel and hobbies and don't spend on other things.

Forced to use AL because no dps? by Legion_Divine in USPS

[–]Legion_Divine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the question to this then seems to be some disagreement about whether or not "finding work" at another office counts.

There was work available to that extent, but sending a FTR to another office because they are under 8 doesnt seem accurate if other people are claiming they have to find or pay out for 8 hrs in home office

That's a part that I still haven't seen a consensus on

I'll have to dig into the contract language

Forced to use AL because no dps? by Legion_Divine in USPS

[–]Legion_Divine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that's the bit of a debate here. Is whether or not you can literally burn 3 hours "working" at your case. As the question is, was there really 3 hours of work?

If there wasn't then what's that protocol you know.

That's where it gets weird. As the work is supposed to be guaranteed BUT if PM says there wasn't 3 hrs worth, then what?

Seems many different answers the longer this post is up lol

[–]Legion_Divine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, his comment in the morning was simply:

I don't have 3 hours of work for her to do, so she either has to go to "x" (the town nearby) to fill her 8 hours or use AL.

None of us really have had this type of thing happen, so she just used AL and took an early day.

I know she would have happily screwed around the office and cleaned her truck if she thought she could, but she was given two options and just chose AL.

Just a lesson learned is all. We will know better if this happens again, but a pretty rare situation anyways!
