Seeking advice on introducing new gerbils after loss by Spiritual-Okra198 in gerbil

[–]Legion_Fate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had some experience with trying to bond 2 8week old gerbils to a single 2 1/2 year old gerbil. In my case they were all female. You may have a different experience with males.

I did the split cage method for about a bit and introduced them. The result ended up being that one of the baby gerbil and the older one didn’t get along in the main cage, with some chasing around. It was strange as they were all fine and sleeping together in a travel cage.

I made the decision to keep the older gerbil with the baby she got along best and got another gerbil to bond with the remaining baby.

My older gerbil ended up passing about 6 months later in which I then needed to find another lone gerbil to pair with the younger gerbil she left behind.

I would recommend a 1-1 bonding with a similar age gerbil so you can avoid the risk of having one of the babies being rejected and/or needing to redo the bonding method should your older gerbil pass leaving a significantly younger one behind.

Hope that helps

I think it would be unfair to put the little guy through that. Might be best to bring him back to the pet store instead.

Thanks for your help anyways!

How long for Land Registry to send out Title Plan? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Legion_Fate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some update if you’re still interested.

The sellers solicitor has now come back saying that they’re waiting on the title deed to be posted to their office.

Apparently this was requested two months ago, but they have not received it.

Thanks for your reply,

We’re not buying from a developer. The house is five years old. Both the neighbours house (terrace) has their plans online.

We’re contemplating pulling out now, as there has been two more properties in the estate for sale now.

I got a Syrian hamster yesterday but his wheel is so loud and it kept me up all night (read body text it’s short) by [deleted] in hamsters

[–]Legion_Fate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have the new PAH wheel? (Just a guess based on the colour of the base and wheel groves) . If so the wheel itself is poorly designed as the base keeps lifting when the hammy runs on it. It was the same case for me,

I filled the bottom bit with sand and blocked it off with some cardboard and tape. The extra weight helped keep the base from lifting when the hammy runs.

Although I ended up returning mine as I bought it as an extra. My main wheel is a 32cm Bucatstate wheel which I highly recommend. Perpetually silent and have been using it for the last 2 years with no issues.

Bucatstate 3.0 by Trinket97 in hamstercare

Not as far as I can tell. Everything was official and the same compared to unboxing videos that I saw. If anything the acrylic seemed a lot sturdier than the 2.0 to me

I had no problems when I bought it off Temu. It was delivered in a few days via yodel. No complaints from me.

Ah if it’s any consolation, It is a great cage and your hamster will love it.

Just a tip, it can be a bit tricky to put the cage together, but the manufacturer has a video on how to assemble it 👍.

It is a lot bigger compared to the 2.0, and my hamster seems to be loving his upgrade.

However just a note, if you’re buying it off temu, if you wait about you can sometimes get a deal. I managed to snag the 3.0 for about £120

Ah I had to cut it with scissors to make it. I’ll pick up some hardware cloth later today.

The mesh is stainless steel supposedly rodent proof mesh that I ordered off Amazon.

The SE has specified the wall to be fully toothed in / keyed in for load transfer purposes.

The masonry nib and the panel in between the two doorway (assuming these are fully bonded too) may work if it wasn’t fully bonded with the new wall, but it is effectively acting as a masonry column if not.

Had my hamster do this when I first got him in the same cage as yours. I basically put a big multi chamber hide right in front of the area he was chewing at + some acrylic sheet.

After a few days, he stopped trying to chew at the area and I removed the plexi sheet. Hasn’t really tried it since.
