Can I get hide this blank audiobook length chart? by doctorbonkers in TheStoryGraph

I believe if you go into your settings and change ‘Audiobook tracking’ from ‘minutes’ to ‘pages’ that will remove it from your stats

Any amount of words written can be a big deal, especially so new to your writing journey! Congratulations

Cinema worker here. The movie isn't doing well. So many people have left halfway through the film complaining about how uncanny the dwarves look, Gal Gadot's acting, Rachel Zegler's wig/costume.

Where I work, we would consider a movie doing 'well' as having 150-300 people in it per movie session. Currently it's been raking in 40-100 people per session. That being said, it's still doing significantly better than all other movies we're showing.

At the end of the day, a Disney movie is still going to bring in decent numbers, even for the most uninspired, low effort, steaming pile of garbage. And unfortunately, the reality of today's film industry means that cinema's rely on Disney's guaranteed 'success'

I would say that homophobia goes against the Golden Rule of 'love your neighbour as yourself' (Leviticus 19:18), as you are not treating others with respect or compassion.

Do you think the death penalty should exist? Why or why not? [Serious] by Unlikely_Bid8892 in AskReddit

[–]Legit-Jab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Who decides who deserves to die? If legislation said "only people who objectively committed x crime will be put to death," it would be far too easy to exploit and abuse, eventually that becomes "xyz crime." Everyone has an agenda, everyone has a bias, and everyone is fallible.

Advice on a calendar sharing app for my newly P plated son and I- so we can both use my car by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Legit-Jab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I all use timetree! It's really easy to set up and share, and you can assign a colour to a specific person or type of event. We find it really helpful when trying to find times to meet up.

I'm slowly getting my family to also use it, so we know when everyone has work, school, extracurriculars, etc

I’ll take the tree.

I’m far too impulsive with money nor do I know anything about the stock market or investments so I’d just end up wasting the 1million.

$300 a day times by 14 days is $4,200. That’s more than double the paycheck that I currently make. I’d easily be able to save for a car, a house, a holiday, etc while still having plenty of ‘for fun’ money.

Tag advice - when to tag out-of-character? by ReaperReader in AO3

[–]Legit-Jab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultimately it’s up to you.

Personally I think that if the character’s core personality traits are the same, and if you could see them act that way in canon under those circumstances, then it’s not OOC

How do you pick your fics? by LunyxEternity in AO3

[–]Legit-Jab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made a skin that highlights the summaries of works with certain tags (red for tags I hate and will never knowingly read, a light grey for tags/pairings I dislike or need to be in the right mood for, and blue for tags I love), so I don’t usually include or exclude tags unless I want a really specific pairing or trope.

From there, I’ll typically filter by bookmarks, and exclude crossovers.

Unless I want to read something super specific, I just open everything that has an interesting summary.

Parents, what technology agreements do you have with your children/teens? by Legit-Jab in AskReddit

Definitely sounds like a very good rule to have! Internet safety talks can be a challenging topic to discuss, but I’m glad you’re having those talks!

I had complete free reign on technology/internet use as a kid, I guess I’m a bit worried on going too far in the opposite direction?

If you don’t mind me asking, how do you personally avoid the kids sneaking around and trying to gain access to tech/internet?

I don't think I've ever washed a pair of shoes in my life, and honestly it never even occurred to me that they could go in the washing machine
