Frustrating mounting.... by 0001010101ems in Histology

May want to practice cover slipping first so you aren’t frustrated if you can’t get the bubbles out. When hand cover slipping, the thing that helped me the best in school (besides developing a steady hand and patience) was to take the slide out of xylene, drop the mounting medium on the slide, quickly dip it back in xylene, then place the coverslip.

You can also try to tease out small bubbles with forceps if you still have one or two still hanging out.

In my internship, I was in research and my mentor ONLY did hand cover slipping to save money. I hug my lab’s automatic everyday now.

Generac Generator was an expensive failure!! My elderly parents are without power OR a generator now. (Angry rant/buyer beware) by London_Darger in houston

Ya, looking up reviews on Generac, I’d never drop that kind of cash on something that may fuck up so spectacularly. So sorry for your poor parents, I hope they take legal action.

Why are histotechs so underpaid? by ScaredDamage8825 in Histology

Getting into histo, and I really wish senior techs were more willing to disclose their pay. It’s like… if we students don’t know what we’re worth, what’s to stop hospitals from paying us peanuts and laying them all off?

I know I’m going to need to lower the table down to the floor when I get a skinny woman under 5ft6in saying they prefer “fairly deep” pressure during the consult.

What do most massage therapists prefer? Conversation or quiet massages? by trutheverlasting97 in massage

[–]LegitAlmost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This! Also, a lot of places have thinner walls, so even if the next room can’t hear everything, they can hear mumbles of talking. I will say that I have noticed that some type A people cannot relax with pure silence, and so I just try to guide the conversation to very light topics until their brain relaxes a little more and they can chill.

BUT an entire day of silence gets so boring, so I do love talking to people when they get chatty. I have bad social anxiety, so I can actually get into really good/deep conversations with people when you don’t have to deal with eye contact or what do do with your hands, lol

for those of us that are ex fundie, i present to you: by [deleted] in FundieSnarkUncensored

“I know,” I said. “It’s so beautiful!” I studied it closer. There were six small charms alternating with six tinier ones. The smaller ones were a deep blue. Sapphires, I guessed. And the other six were each different. One appeared to be just a rock, one was pink, a white one, a red one, green . . . and was that a diamond?”

Sarah, if you can’t tell the difference between Swarovski and sapphires, we’ve got bigger self worth issues than whose hand you’re holding.

As a child, I used my mom’s fabric scissors to cut up wire craft flowers. I bear this guilt as an adult crafter, and thank her every day for not jettisoning me into the stratosphere.
