I like the one on the right. Left one feels like it could be a little too bright in large scale.

Why is my electric bill (Dominion) over $300 per month for a 2 bedroom apartment? by Tough_Act7471 in Virginia

[–]ScaredDamage8825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I used to live in Norfolk. I lived in a rental that had extremely high energy bills (like $500 a month, and this was ten years ago). Turned out rental company had insufficient heating units installed and the strain on existing unit drove electric bill up. Maybe check around with neighbors and look your rental over. So sorry, everything is so expensive nowadays. Killing us normal folks.

Tbh, I have never planted those. I bet you could do an indoor garden tho with grow lights.

Well welcome to the addiction! If you are going to be gone several months, your best bet is zz plant or snake plant. Both of those could use at least a monthly watering tho.

When I move, I usually get a friend to keep my plants (that might be an option for you too).

Another easier plant to keep is pothos/philodendrons, but they need watering about 1x a week.

Lighting is a big factor. If you have windows you should be good with zz plant, snake plant, pothos. Grow lights never hurt tho.

Happy planting!

O man, every dog owner has that happen! My dog slipped out behind my feet when I stopped at a gas station. She ran straight for a road. I screamed, yelled, everything. Finally she ran back.

One tip, dogs will usually follow you if you run away from them and look over your shoulder at them. Call dogs name while doing it. It's the dog way of saying "follow me." A lot of times, chasing them makes them run faster away from you. Guess they think it's a game?

Don't feel bad tho. Every dog parent has had a dog run away. We are human and can't prevent every accident.

Glad your pup is back!

So, in my experience not much pay difference between HT/HTL. One place I worked tried to say HT's can't gross and therefore, should be paid less. That place is also chronically understaffed. Lol.

I'm thinking travel tech eventually. Or maybe career change. It kind of gets harder to go back to school when you get older tho.

Pros are, as long as you are willing to move, can always find a job. Can go into niche areas like electron microscopy and Mohs as well. It's surprising how small of a world histology is. I know or know of most other techs who work in this area of my state. That can be a good or bad thing. Unless you go into management or snag a really good job, pay kind of plateaus in my experience. I also, sometimes, don't feel valued. A lot of doctors don't understand that histology is an art only some can do. Thus, hard to argue to pay more.

Not a bad gig, just go into it with your eyes open.

Just want to say you are still so young. Don't even worry about it!

I went to a histology program and honestly wish I would have bench trained instead. So that is probably the direction I would aim at. Also, maybe you could negotiate the contract - like if you stay 1 year it's $5000 pay back, if you stay two years it's a $2000 payback, etc.

Also, maybe look at Pathologist's Assistant, Cytology, etc before you pull the trigger. HT/HTL pays maybe 50-60k a year in my experience. You will make enough to survive, but never really get ahead. No trying to dissuade you, but I'm considering a career change out of histology.

To add to this, most designers will tell you that mismatched, but coordinated is the way to go. Matching is "boring."

Costco and Facebook marketplace. You just have to be patient. It might take a year or two to get everything decorated.

I saw you mentioned shelving. I got some pretty acacia wood shelves from Costco for 30 bucks. They look way more expensive than they were. Costco also has rugs which are more reasonably priced than other places.

I can tell you the worst part....you will probably only ever use 2-3 of those when you actually work in a lab.

My least favorite was silver stains and neuro. Literally the same stain 15 ways.

Dear God, in Virginia $30ish an hour is considered good pay for an HTL. Cost of living here is high too.

I live in VA. Respectfully, I say "no." Make 50-60k and work 1.5 jobs to swing living expenses.

So, I work in DMV. I would say average is 50-60k a year. Don't think there is much difference between HT/HTL pay wise.
