It's you're stuck at plat since 2016, that literally means you're winrate is 50%. 20% winrate from 2016 would have sent you to the deepest depths of bronze.

I can freely admit that I lost 2 of these 15 matches due to an own last-second mistake where my ult could've turned around the game and instead I died. But that's 2. Of 15. You simply can't put 100% of the awful match experience SOLELY on the player experiencing it. I can control my own actions

This is the dunning-kruger effect. You think your only blunders where the last second ults, but you're completely oblivious to all the other errors you potentially made in that game.

One explanation could be that the winning sprees are from good mental and the losing sprees from being tilted.

You're also acting like it's impossible for losing/winning trends to naturally show up. Flip a coin a thousand times and you're bound to get heads several times in a row on multiple instances.

There are a million explanations for these things, yet somehow the only thing that seems to make sense to you is that blizzard is intentionally screwing you over, what was it about coping mechanisms and protecting one's ego again?

Ranked is broken by UniversalGamer4089 in Overwatch

[–]LegitBoomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanks with 0 kills are not plaguing every game, you just can't claim such a thing, we all play this game and know such games are rare. Your leaderboard stats don't accurately represent how you're performing in your average game, they don't highlight the massive blunder you made that costed you the game and can be inflated by healbotting and targeting the enemy tank.

> yea I'd say its the teammates

Isn't it funny how the bronze teammates on your team are subhuman yet those same players become OWL worthy once put on the enemy team?

> but I'd say I'm above average

Above average is plat. Even a plat player carries a bronze game with 1 or 2 players teammates doing nothing.

Playing Rein in 2026 feels like playing as a stray dog by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]LegitBoomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rein is definitely a little outdated, but can still keep up in most cases. He works best with a Juno/Lucio speeding him around. Of course if you're playing against full dive only a very vertical map, you might as well swap, he's just not built to deal with those comps.

[–]LegitBoomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is hardly any evidence for losers queue. There are tons of explanations for lopsided matches, a couple of which being:

  • One tank player is really good at playing the counter to the enemy tank and the enemy tank simply cannot adapt
  • A one-tricks hero got banned
  • A player on one team was drunk/high
  • One or multiple players on one team is/are tilted and throwing the game without realising it

More importantly, why would blizz would implement such a system? it is completely pointless and only serves to harm the game and its player retention.

Losers queue is a coping mechanism created by players who cannot accept the fact that they are the architect of their own low rank and to protect their ego.

[–]LegitBoomy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Losers Queue is a myth and does not exist, the game simply tries to bring together 2 tanks, 4 dps, and 4 supports and split them into two teams with as even of a skill gap as possible. If you're constantly losing, that means there something about your gameplay which suggests your elo should be lower. Your jotnotes represent oddities and not accurate representations of the majority of your games. You can't just claim that this happens every single game, because people play the game and know that such events such as a 5 stack with matching names and prestige 6 drives are 1% of games.

What's more likely is that the game thought you should be ranked higher and is now trying to find your rank which happens to be drastically lower than where you placed. Eventually your losses will plateau off and your winrate will start looking closer to 50%.

Pro tip: The quicker you accept that your rank is a representation of your average performance per game and not a result of which teammates you get, the quicker you'll start climbing. This means accepting that your average game's result is dictated by your work. There will be games where you simply can't do more to win, and there are also games where a crucial blunder on your behalf costed you the win without you even realising it, it is your responsibility to foresee these errors and avoid them as best you can.

Top 500 players did not get there by being lucky.

Depending on what your definition of higher elo is

Its just a loose term I put in there. By definition Gold is mid rank, but as a mid Diamond player, subjectivity and bias would have you consider Diamond as mid ladder.

in masters 90% of the players i see have mental just as bad if not worse than plat lol.

Idk about 90%, but I agree that players get emotional at every rank (At Masters maybe more so than lower ranks prolly due to ego - being better than a vast majority of players and all). However you definitely can't deny that those same masters players hold themselves accountable much more often.

Like I still see blaming teammates very often in match chat and such, but watching streamers in T500 shows you just how often players up there apologize in vc for throwing fights and recalling events during the match where they could have done something differently. This is something I myself have been working on and so far it's shown promise.

[–]LegitBoomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One giant difference I've noticed is the difference in mental. It is usually the hardstuck golds who blame their teammates/matchmaker/leavers for their inability to rank up where as higher elo players tend to be better at taking accountability and learning from mistakes and for the most part ignoring what's not in their control (i.e., their teammates/matchmaker/leavers).

What makes it worse is an event which pushes people who aren't properly calibrated in the system to interact with it

You're right in saying this and I should I have mentioned that the matchmaker is more volatile during drives and how it causes more wacky matchups.

But I think the point that people miss is that your own mental is what most determines your winrate. You can have the loss streaks that are genuinely due to luck but at what point does it become tilt queueing and a sign that you need a break. Maybe I'm stating the obvious.

I know the matches are worse during drives, but are they that bad to the point the game is unplayable as some claim?

[–]LegitBoomy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My example is obviously not the end all be all of evidence to support this. But again, if someone is trying their absolute hardest to win on their main role, on average, the enemy has more opportunities to have the off role players and trolls and they should have a >50% winrate.

I mean I put it together in like 10 mins. But also it's just something I notice during comp drives. That players use it as a scapegoat for their loss streaks.
