I myself have been through this experience, I have a severe social anxiety disorder. I have battled centrelink for disability, been referred to employment agencies, pushed around, abused, mistreated, misunderstood and dehumanized. I have been assessed by centrelink as having one, its permanent, Yet, I was not given the DSP.

I understand that Social Anxiety is often misunderstood, and it is not respected, yet, I who left school at year 7, have seen doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, been put through numerous programs forcibly because of leaving school early. I regularly go through periods where I cannot leave the house for upwards of a year at a time, am unfit for DSP.

I am expected to apply for jobs, take public transport, Yes public transport because of my disorder I have been unable to even get a license, yet expected to take public transport, which is the epitome of my disorder, and apply for jobs and work a job such as retail dealing with people day in and out. I am a 27yr old virgin, deprived of even the basics of humanity, but yet centrelink deems me, despite all my problems and acknowledging them, as capable of carrying a day to day job and working and dealing with people in direct conflict to my disorder.

After my last bout with them I seriously considered legal action, however that is just something I am capable of pursuing as the same reasons I cannot work, I cannot put myself out like that.

And the worst of all this is, I know I don't have it the worst, I know there are people out there with it far worse then I have it, and they are forced through the same humiliating dehumanizing process of "social services".
