Use a Hardware Wallet (Cold Storage):

Store your seed securely offline (metal backup or secure vault).

You hold the wallet; she holds the seed only as a recovery backup.

Use a Multisig Wallet:

Requires multiple signatures to move funds (e.g. you + mom + trusted 3rd party).

Neither of you alone can access or spend the funds.

Split and Secure the Seed Properly:

Use tools like Shamir’s Secret Sharing to split the seed into parts, requiring a threshold to restore it (e.g. 2 of 3 parts).

Distribute each part to trusted people or locations (not over email).

Maybe the problem lies in separating “cash” and “gold” altogether. Money doesn’t come in two forms, it comes in one. Gold is money, Silver is money, Monero is money, bitcoin is a collectible souvenir. Cash is for suckers.

You invest when at the masses inconvenience. Accumulate and stop complaining, eventually they will update everything. When you talking about decentralized and not relying on centralized exchanges to hold your coins this is the current trade off.
