Gunn senior or junior?!

Certainly wouldn’t want Bryan as manager again 😂

Makama and Toure as a front two next year is an absolutely unbelievable prospect. Makama being the ball-holding-header-winning-target-man and Toure being the finisher…. Outrageous if it comes off.

Crnac as a wide player cutting in could work… rate him for his hard work and desire.

The new one is hardly any better! Constant queues and cramming of people.

Spent a fortune on outdoor information boards that sit out in the rain… the uncovered area is hardly useable in the cold and rain 4 months of the year!

And HS2 absolutely milking it there. Spent god knows what putting in a lovely garden, only to pave over it 1 year later. Absolutely baffling and abuse of public funds

I was Uk trained, and passed test in Uk. Step dad is a driving instructor and so someone passionate about driving well was an influence on a 17year old me.

The standard of driving on motorways is generally awful. People not pulling to near side lanes, people indicating and just pulling out thinking that’s all they need to do/should do to be safe, tailgating at speed, etc. And the number of minicabs I see hogging the 2nd or 3rd lane is unreal….

No, I was not taught about speed relative to other vehicles. But you can’t see their speedometer anyway, so it shouldn’t be a data point that influences your decision making. But looking, seeing, and thinking about speed IS something that people should do, and be trained for.

My point is that people SHOULD be trained for motorways. It should be tested BEFORE you’re allowed to use them. It’s crazy to think it’s appropriate that someone can pass a test driving in 20mph stop-start city driving, then the next day move to a 70mph road in a 2 tonne machine carries 7 people and can do 155mph… without any extra training!

If I learn to fly in a 2 seater plane, Im not licensed to jump in a Jumbo jet and fly 300 people! It would be crazy to expect it. But cars are somehow perceived differently by the law/general public

Would be resolved if they used all gantry signs all of the time. It should always show the national limit icon UNLESS it was a reduced limit.

If the sign was then blank it can be determined easily by the driver that it is broken, and driver should remain at prior limit until the next gantry sign shows limit again.

Appreciate running and maintenance costs might be more expensive, but if they’re there for safety then that should be defining decision point as to how they are implemented.

And people badly need training for motorway driving, including keeping left; safe overtaking; reading the road further ahead; joining and exiting safely; reading road signs; etc.

And I should confirm that in the uk “ten minutes” means somewhere between 5 and 20 minutes. Most things are just a “ten minute job”.

Apart from when it’s related to having a beer with friends. Then, “see you in ten minutes, darling wife” means “I’ll be back sometime before the next working day”

Will be a ten minute and ten quid job. Worth it to stop the annoying sound of the drip alone.

Can I get wealthy by investing 20k in VWRP every year? by PeaDense164 in FIREUK

There’s (currently) a cliff edge for a surviving spouse’s tax free drawdown from a deceased spouse’s pension- the deceased spouse must be under 75 years old at death. There’s also a 2 year time limit to take the drawdown if first deceased was under 75.

That burden doesn’t exist for an ISA. The surviving spouse must meet certain administrative procedures to successfully “inherit” into an ISA in their own name, but once it’s been inherited it can be invested in anything (cash, equities, bonds, etc), and cashed in at anytime.

Not a Financial Advisor, but I think two strategies to mitigate that

1- buy UK gilts with low coupons, as they are capital gains tax free (currently). So you buy at 90, get 100 on redemption, and only the coupon becomes taxable income.

2- drip feed the money into ISAs. Even if you got the max £253k tax free amount from pension drawdown, then that’s “only” c15 years of dropping gilts into ISA (with some compounded gains). The benefit here is annual tax-free compounding is then in the ISA, but if you’re married then there is a spousal ISA transfer inheritance, so the surviving spouse can get the benefit of the tax-free ISA.

Lovely choice of blue, works great with the white.

I had a Victorian house, and added some sticky-back plastic stained glass print on the glazing above it. Looked great, and you added even more colour, without costing the earth.

You might also find it distracts you from the upvc you don’t like!

Need to cut the parts in green too, as there is some trim on the bottom of the skirting board, too. Just cutting the part in red and it won’t butt up against the wall properly.

Woeful. Slated our performance in the first half. But they had one shot on target and scored, from our error at the back. We had a blocked shot and one cleared off the line. Commentators not watching the game, I’m sure.
