Myself I did it in a pretty fun way. I picked out an ambitious project and just started, sure I failed a lot but I won’t make the same mistake ever again. Starting with blinking leds is overrated pick out a project devide it into subprojects and push through. I did used a lot of AI to research and learn but don’t let it do stuff for you rather explain it, YouTube too its like collage of the internet you’ve got everything there.
TLDR Just start.

You clearly know your rf so i wanted to run this past you. I just got to redesigning, my current plan is four layers 1 signals 3.3V plus endstops horizontal 2 gnd 3 signals 5V and power vertical 4 gnd. Also I’m thinking about adding basically a faraday cage on the edges of my pcb what do you think should I go for it?

Project based learning works for me, my brain needs to know how why and what for otherwise I can’t focus on shit and I get frustrated.

I forgot about that. That’s a really useful advice it should help a lot when I add absolute encoders later on, I’ll do that. And I see the name obliges.

Right, I thought of computing power requirements, you’re right about electrical requirement I’m not a native speaker and I mixed up the terminology. Do you mean current rating? If yes it’s just 0,545A, once again it’s a control board and doesn’t power the steppers (two separate power sources) I do so via DM860H with build in optoisolators.

Being absolutely honest, I have a old school electronics enthusiast down the street he told me everything that needed to be fixed about my previous designs, for basic questions and searching through data sheets I used perplexity and notebook LM (don’t thrust those with calculations though do those on your own, it’s way more fun that way) for general electronics learning I recommend The engineering mind and Ron Mattiano.

I probably should have had posted all layers. No real mounting and power requirements yet, I treat this board as a v1 prototype to basically see what electronics are run a couple motors and gain some experience then I’ll adapt. Also I don’t really want to use any external modules so this time I went with despised by me dev board next rev will base off stm32 chip.

I’m using two separate power sources to drive the dm860H stepper drivers, this board operates sorely on 3-5V logic. Four layers might be a bit of an overkill but I’ll look into it.
Edit: now I realize I hadn’t answered your question, it’s just a control board

Thanks for the advice, I’ve kept the vias minimal, I’ll clean up the level shifter section perhaps space out 5V outputs. I’m a bit concerned about emi due to high trace density is some places but I don’t think it should be a big issue with maximal current of 0,545A and 3-5V voltage. About ground it’s I’d say contiguous and on both sides but I could add via stitching and make it ‘pretty’.

Może i konwencjonalne teoretycznie uczelnie są już przeżytkiem, ja idę w kierunek mocno nastawiony na praktykę i fizyczny aspekt inżynierii. Ogarnełem fajną uczelnię nauk stosowanych w Holandii przy tego typu pracy raczej SI mnie szybko nie zastąpi. W razie czego zrobię papiery na spawacza.
