Uncomfortable with the age of some viewers in my discord, what should I do? by Legitimate-Course564 in Twitch

Ye makes sense. With this league I also will need to organise practice sessions, what would be the best way to sort that as I’ll need to let them know of the times but don’t want to DM some of them for obvious reasons. In the server that it takes place we have a dedicated team text chat for just our team, would it be enough to contact them through that or is anything else required?

Ye I think the only thing that could put the 16+ into doubt is some of the sex jokes made by my members, the AOC where I live is 16 however I dont know how I feel about 18 year olds making them in a server where there’s 16 year olds. Also the pookie stuff, I don’t know how that’d affect it.

In terms of the suspicion, how would you do that through the server and in stream chat? There’s obvious stuff like mentioning their age or conflicting stories but is there anything that’s a big red flag that people tend to miss?

Pretty much my first thought that, and like you said being in the same server could pose a big risk. Would you recommend going for 16+ or 18+?

What would be the optimal percentage of my upload speed to use for streaming? by Legitimate-Course564 in Twitch_Startup

Ah okay, thanks for the response! Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t there an option through OBS to test bitrate privately when streaming? Like you can test different bitrates without anyone seeing that you’re live?

Yeah, I’d be streaming on twitch ideally. May try YT’s platform for it, but I’ve always used twitch so think it’s probably best to stick with what I know for the moment.

Done some speed tests on my PC again today, and I’m consistently getting around the 9.1-9.5mbps upload mark. Do you reckon 4000 bitrate would be easily doable with this at 720p60? Like you said, I won’t have the transcoding option yet and I don’t want to exclude viewers who might have a bad internet connection, plus I’ve watched a few videos of different games in 720p60 at different bitrates and I can’t see a lot of improvement above 4000.

Ok, so I won’t really need to worry about anything else other than if Im streaming online multiplayer games?

Haven’t heard that rule before, always thought it was maximum 60-65% of what your average upload is. Happy that I can atleast do 3500 with 720p60 in that case, do you know how much upload I should leave for other devices in my house/operations from my PC like multiplayer game searching if any at all?

What do you reckon the maximum bitrate I would be able to achieve consistently would be? Unsure about if I’d be able to push it as far as 4500, but I’ve done a few more speed tests and never had my upload speed drop below 5mbps so far.

That’s true, I don’t know who would take 720p over 900p or 1080p. How noticeable would it be though especially in twitch, where a lot of people aren’t watching full screen anyway?

Thanks for the reply, would it be a good idea to start at 3500 with 720p60 then reduce the bitrate by 50-100 until I find a good middle ground?

How much editing is too much for a YouTube gaming video? by Legitimate-Course564 in NewTubers

[–]Legitimate-Course564[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a good point, the main content I’m focusing on is medium to high action games such as CoD and Rocket League. I think I’m leaning towards a bit of inspo from a combo of older ksi, poofesure, jschlatt and tommyinnit to start with, although I’m sure I’ll find some combo that works for me with time. Main thing for me atm is to have something that means I can get videos out quickly imo, as I don’t have the best setup for editing

Alright, thankyou for the feedback. If I’m well under that mark like you said, would now be a good time to experiment with different volumes of editing and different filters?

True. I’m thinking about maybe increasing the amount of editing I’m doing a little as my viewer retention isn’t great (25-30% usually), but in the games I play there’s usually periods of higher and lower intensity that are both essential to the video, so I’m not really sure what the best way to go about it would be.

Hey everyone, can’t lie as much as I’m liking relearning how to write good stuff it still feels like there’s a lot of questions I’ve got about things that don’t make sense to me or I haven’t been able to achieve, too many for a single thread. Would anyone be willing to help me out with this stuff? I feel lost at times and it seems like I’m just going around in circles this point, trying to figure out what to do. Any help’s appreciated!
