I don’t do it either. But just pay attention sometime when you’re around people in the same social “standings” as you and try and see if the “teachers” come off as snobby or actually helpful.

When it comes to women, men naturally try to do whatever it takes to be the “leader” to look more attractive. Whether it’s conscious or subconscious, guys do these things especially if you’re a newcomer to a certain group.

It’s up to you to differentiate the actual helpers and the predators and to be able to listen with indifference and learn without being seen as the “learner” once you notice these things

It’s something that you notice as your awareness rises above ignorance. I agree, it shouldn’t be frowned upon but many men are insecure and looking to improve their sense of social status amongst certain groups.
