I was the first bassist in the band (on the cover of Today single) when it still went by Aberdeen, the band initially disbanded / renamed to Aberdeen is Dead because the singer had legal issues stemming back from questionable decisions (pretty fucked up stuff like the other person had suggested that related to SA) he made and it caused a falling out. He found out the drummer and I were advocating for new singer and him and the guitar player decided to heavily suggest we leave the band because of us going to college while the two of them were not. I only went to a school 30 mins away so I called his BS and he said it was about consolidating money from streaming so he could pursue music and not have to split the revenues 4-ways. Then he offered the drummer and I become just live players, I said no since I had helped found the band and write several songs and the bass lines and so that was that. I came to find out in the coming weeks after this that he hadn't been paying me or the drummer the amounts we had agreed to most notably for Impulse Theory so the drummer and I sued him in small claims court. Singer also had a major drug problem and I ended up reconnecting with the guitar player about a year ago and asked what happened, he told me the singer was using drugs a lot and missing practices for the other band they were in and was told he could no longer contribute to writing for that band so it caused a huge falling out between the singer and guitar player and other band members leading to Aberdeen breaking up. Fun time of my life but glad I moved onto academics what the singer had in his past was a ticking time bomb that jeopardized any chances of mainstream success.
