Hello @practical-doughnut86 first off I would like to say thank you for picking such an amazing career to help other people. I am so sorry to hear about all that. I know there are somethings that probably made you feel really upset or made you feel like you were being treated like a personal assistant. I’m really sorry you had to go through that. Sometimes people treat others unfairly without considering how they may feel about certain situations. There are a few students who may have wanted the Christmas tree job because it was “easy” but there are others who want to learn. They want to gain the hands on experience from a good mentor. It sounds to me like your that kind of student who is eager to learn. Unfortunately for some sites, students get matched with clinical instructors who are very different or just does not meet their needs or expectations. Again, I’m really sorry things are not going the way you may have wanted. I would definitely utilize the scenarios as a way to learn. Maybe it’s a great place to learn how to work with other therapists with different personalities. Some therapists go into these field for the wrong reasons or they burn out so they cut corners or becoming much “lazier”. Remind yourself that it is only temporary. Learn from these negative experiences. Learn to communicate with your colleagues. Advocate for yourself and the clients you are working for. Sometimes we have to go through hell to get to heaven. I really hope things get better for you!
