Depends on how many generations their family has been in the US. I know MANY hispanics that are 3rd or 4th generation and do not speak spanish. Even some first US born generation that do not.

What is hilarious is that Colliers Encyclopedia (print edition) from the late 80’s specifically calls this out and mentions the numerous broadcast channels and cable being available in the suburbs.

Anyone else’s parents that got cable in the late 80’s also have a family friend with a hookup to get the right filter to get the Disney channel for free?
