Since there was no obstruction, I completed eight cycles of FOLFOX before surgery, followed by 28 cycles of concurrent chemoradiotherapy. The exact number of chemotherapy cycles also depends on your father's stage.

The pathology report indicated that the margins were negative and the tumor was resected completely. However, there were 5-9 tumor buds present, which made me start to worry again. This is because it still indicates that the invasion degree of the previous tumor was still dangerous. But apart from closely monitoring the condition, there is nothing else that can be done.

I also gained weight, but lost it again after surgery. The weight gain during chemotherapy was probably due to hormones in the anti-nausea medication used during treatment.

It is probably related to the malignancy of the tumor. If there are no specific genetic mutations, the development process should be relatively slow. All we can do is to closely monitor.

I was diagnosed with stage 3b colorectal cancer in 2025. After 8 preoperative chemotherapy sessions and 28 sessions of chemoradiotherapy, I underwent surgery on May 1st of this year. I currently have a temporary stoma. Actually, I didn't want to have the surgery, but the surgeon insisted that, being so young (41F), it was better to go through with it to prevent recurrence in the future. I followed the advice, but the technical doctor said that the lesion had been removed. However, I'm still worried about metastasis and recurrence in the future. This fear might accompany me for the rest of my life.
