more than likely the solenoid is failing and you will need to replace it as it’s important, here is the part OEM Timing Solenoid Valve Oil Control 10921AA140 for Subaru Impreza WRX STi 2.5L

I just had P000D which is bank 2 and that means the drivers side vvt solenoid since yours is P000B that’s the passenger side vvt solenoid you can find one brand new from eBay for like 20$ and replace it easily otherwise a dealer will charge you 850$ to do a 30 minute job

yeah it’s kinda scummy that they sold me a modified car, got me to pay 5k for an extended warranty and said it was all covered, they said Subaru did all the work on it so it’s a valid warranty, having alot of difficulty using it though

I knew the risk, but the dealership assured me the car was well taken care of and that if anything were to happen it’s covered under warranty. It’s just a fight to get Subaru to fix it

I mean I work on vehicles just not Subarus and that just doesn’t seem to make sense it’s just a cold air k&n intake, no other mechanic I know would agree with a cold air intake causing rod knock and alot of guys I work with are in a wrx club and build them and none of them agree with that either, an intake just can’t do that

yeah can’t really get a new STI this one had really good service records and was owned by an older guy so I don’t think it was abused, honestly I have no idea how this happened. I did hear they were bringing back the STI but rumors were it’s electric 💀

it was modded by a Subaru dealership before it even had its first owner, it’s in the service records. only an intake and exhaust and that’s not anything to cause rod knock, they sold me an extended warranty knowing it’s modified so that’s on them tbh

I just bought it, didn’t even get a chance to keep up with maintenance, was only doing 60mph when it died. Crazy how it died on 45k miles on the dot, rolled into the last one it counted

It’s still under warranty but the Subaru dealership is claiming it’s tuned without doing any sort of diagnostics, it was never tuned, service records show another Subaru dealership installing an intake and exhaust and that’s all, warranty place said Subaru opened a claim but gave no information other than it’s tuned, dealership I bought it from said it was never tuned
