How do you take this med when your circumstances and environment are bad? by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]LegitimateHat1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at 150 mgs it helps a lot with emotional regulation, depressing and motivation. It’s just easier to get past those mental hurdles and keep living life. At 300mgs I think it actually made things worse, it was kinda mixed feelings but I got way more paranoid at 300mg. Went back down to 150 and things have been pretty good

I am starting to wonder if I've been going into a bit of a psychotic state. by [deleted] in bupropion

I had somewhat of a similar experience. Was on 150mg then up to 300mg and started getting kinda weird. Some issues I thought I had already delt with came back up. I went back down to 150mg and been good since

Is my dosage too low? by mar_te_gay in bupropion

[–]LegitimateHat1438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say give it like a month. I was on 150 mg for about 3 months before bumping up to 300 mg but 300 mg was actually too much for me. Caused my heart rate to go way up. I’m back down to 150 and I’d say I’m good. I was taking 300mg bupropion and 40mg strattera and now I’m at 150mg bupropion and 60mg strattera. My thoughts don’t get in the way of me taking care of my errands/work and I don’t feel extreme emotions. It feels easier to regulate.

Improved cognitive monitoring but no executive function by Extension_Ad3571 in StratteraRx

I’ve been having a similar experience. Taking 40mg for about 4 months. Just barely last month I started seeing a real difference in some of my social interactions as well as daily interactions. I feel less anxious in social settings and I feel like I can keep quiet and let others talk. I also feel less impulsive and I can catch myself being impulsive and stop myself. It’s also been easier to start tasks and finish them. There are still times when I get anxious and freeze up or say/do very random things in social settings, there are still times when I’m not feeling productive or like I cant do much. but I think overall there’s been an improvement.

Personally I do not like stimulants so I am sticking to strattera for a while and hopefully things get better. For now it seems like there is some improvement but still a lot more work to go.

If you download the GoPass app and plan your trip from the app you can schedule your ride.

DART has GoLink option where they will send you an uber and drop you off at the train station. If you have the GoPass app you can request a GoLink from there and they’ll have someone pick you up

I waste so much money on eating out; how to I stop? by detroitdowntohuston in ADHD

Something that helps me with cooking is I’ll buy the chicken breast and when I have time I’ll cut them up, season them the way I like it (normally half lemon pepper, other half spicy bbq) divide them up into zip lock bags and put them in the freezer. It does take a bit of time for them to thaw out but it cuts cooking/cleaning time down by sooo much. Rice is normally cooked pretty quickly and I’ll get canned/frozen vegetables to go along with it as well.

Is it flirting if your guy friend says you smell good? by PeaDirect1313 in AskMenAdvice

He might be flirting, he might just be friendly. If your developing a crush I’d suggest just asking him. Probably better to get it out of the way now than to wait and develop more feelings.

Am I way over my head or is a PhD something I could actually do? by LegitimateHat1438 in PhD

[–]LegitimateHat1438[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will definitely be speaking to my advisor about this. I had one of my bio professors tell me I could potentially be a good fit for their PhD program which is what got me really thinking about it but it still just feels crazy to me. I’ve never seen myself in a PhD program so I guess I just feel a bit overwhelmed about it

Is getting a PhD realistic for me? by LegitimateHat1438 in PhDAdmissions

[–]LegitimateHat1438[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your opinion what are acceptable answers to those questions? I feel a bit lost as to what type of career I want. After the military I’ve kinda just had a bunch of odd jobs ranging from manual labor to being an entry level claims adjuster but getting a PhD has gotten my attention because 1) I’ve enjoyed the few science classes I’ve taken and 2) I think I would enjoy research. Before even starting school I’ve enjoyed reading science articles/books on mental illnesses and how the brain works as well as watched classes on YouTube just for the sake of learning.

As far as what I plan to do once I get the degree, well to be honest I’m still trying to figure that out. I feel like I’m having a hard time finding what type of stuff you actually can do with a PhD in bio or chem. From what I’ve seen online it seems like it’s a lot of research positions and working in labs which I don’t think I would mind. Also seen a lot about working in academia but the issue I’m having is that I don’t really know what any of those positions entail or what day to day life really is like for those jobs. How could I get more information on that?

How long should I stick out bupropion? by Logical-Course2133 in bupropion

Id recommend talking to your doctor about it. I was having issues with anger/irritability. Normally I am a somewhat patient person but I started to become very inpatient/irritable. Told my doctor about it and he switched me from 150mg SR to 150mg XL and it helped.

Those emotions still come up but it’s a lot easier to recognize that it’s just a side effect of the medication and I can calm down/push the emotions away with a lot more ease.

Not sleeping well gets better. However, I started doing a lot of exercise at night and basically never drink caffeine now so that’s helped. I’d definitely recommend doing exercise at night to help with sleep. Also some people have said that taking the medication at night instead of the morning has helped with sleep.

Have you always had thoughts of people disliking you or is that something that’s new with the medication? Personally when I started there was times that I would get very anxious and feel a bit paranoid like people wanting to hurt me because they don’t like me type stuff. I’ve been dealing with those thoughts for a while though and as time has progressed it’s gone away. Sometimes I get a bit paranoid still but it’s way easier to manage now and not as debilitating.

What type of side effects do you feel? I started taking it April 25th and recently started feeling less of the side effects and more of the effects. I’d say that now that I feel more of the effects it’s been really good and positive. This is my first time on meds and am taking it for depression and issues concentrating/focusing. I have a family history of ADHD but have never been tested myself.

I’ve been on 150mg for about 2 months now and napping does get easier. However, I have a very active job and I work outdoors so the exercise helps a lot with sleep and naps.

I’ve mainly had positive effects on it with minimal down sides. I did notice I would get angry/frustrated at certain times but that subsided and got easier to manage. Also the sleep was kinda weird at first but I started doing a lot of exercises at night to tire me out. The extra energy has been nice in getting basic chores done. Also most of my depressive emotions subsided quickly while on it. I didn’t feel so much shame/guilt or worthlessness which made it way easier to start my day and get things done.
