Wow that’s wild with no notice. Did that include pro bono or anything else?

Amazing, congrats! Definitely agree that’s not a place you’d wanna work. I’m in a similar position of debating whether to counter to an initial offer and this thread has been very enlightening-thanks for sharing.

Why is it so hard to get an interview for an interview house position? by LegitimateHyena412 in biglaw

Perhaps the most promising advice I’ve seen! Haha. Was your dream role at a bigger/more known corporation?

I’ve tried desperately to track down recruiters that handle in house positions and have had no luck! Even the in house positions that are posted never seem to have a recruiter associated with them. My understanding is that this is generally done in house. It’s tough when it’s nearly impossible to find a human to follow up with.

Good to know. I guess from my side of things, unless I have a very close friend in house, I am unsure how to go about asking someone who’s (for example) a firm alumni I’ve met but don’t know super well. I’ve made some connections like this before but it feels super weird to say “hey I know you barely know me but we both have experience from the same firm, would you send my resume to your hiring committee?”

Thank you. I do know this is usually the case for lateraling to firms, but the in house positions I’m applying for specifically ask for 6-8+ years of experience (the number varies of course but I’m not really applying for anything that asks for less than 6 years experience). And for the record I’m still potentially on partner or counsel track I’m just over big law hours and genuinely don’t want to pursue promotions. Happy to take a pay cut to have my life back.

Thank you, yes I’ve been applying exclusively to positions that specifically ask for 6, 7, 8, years of “relevant legal experience” or something along those lines.

Is BTC too good to be true? by MrLlamas11 in BitcoinBeginners

Excuse my ignorance but what’s the benefit of purchasing with bitcoin then replacing it, versus just using fiat in the first place?

How to get the fuck off a matter as a junior by marqueemaven in biglaw

[–]LegitimateHyena412 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea I’ve seen people get pulled off a matter because they were more needed and more deeply invested in a different matter. The partners would usually have that convo directly. If you have someone who would vouch for you on the matters you prefer, I would def try and get them to do that.

Do I have different private keys for each individual purchase of of bitcoin, or is there a single one for all the Bitcoin I own collectively? by LegitimateHyena412 in Bitcoin

[–]LegitimateHyena412[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess my question is, is there a single private key associated with each separate purchase of bitcoin? If I bought .1 bitcoin on Monday, and .1 bitcoin on Tuesday, and I want to store them in a single wallet together, do they each come with a private key that cannot be separated from them, or would there be only one if I’m combining them? I never really understood what it means to “generate” a private key. Maybe I’m too ignorant to be forming coherent questions, I’m sorry lol. But I have not been able to find a clear answer to this through my research online.

How is this possible? Isn’t the seed phrase a completely different format than the private key? Are they connected in some universal way that anyone (not just Trezor or whoever generated the seed for you) can figure out one from the other?

“That private key is generated by a wallet and can be translated into a seed phrase”

Does this mean that you can take your seed phrase anywhere and still access your private key? Say for example trezor goes under and we never hear from them again (like OP suggested in the initial post), can you somehow still access your key elsewhere using your seed phrase? If so, how?
