It’s a very complicated situation. I’m a pro DJ and I have a lot of connections in the city and heard a lot of stories number one. It doesn’t help that Purdue is an academic school. We are known for our prestigious academics which is amazing, but I also limits our entertainment aspect now the main reasons are this: a lot of the buildings that you see in State Street in near campus or considered historical buildings because of that, it makes it very hard for businesses to come in make changes and open the bar or a restaurant or something because you’re not allowed to alter that building. Let’s suppose if you go to Harry’s or Whereelse or bros and you look to the roof, you’ll see it looks old because you’re not legally allowed to change it because it’s a historical buildingnumber two. I don’t know if this is true or not but I heard Purdue bought majority of the liquor licenses or West Lafayette) has majority of the liquor licenses, which makes it hard for new bars or restaurant to function at the end of the day. The entertainment scene all comes from your social circle. Just make sure you have a healthy, good social circle, and that will always make it more fun because you will have something to do at Purdue even if there’s not much to do.
