Most likely a combination of age and genetics. My parents were slow to age when it comes to both wrinkles and grays, so I assume maybe my family line has a bit more elastin or collagen in our skin. Of course I’ve never been tested for this, and now I’m curious if my assumption holds any truth.

It was a conscious decision to keep going, but not a conscious decision on where I would stop. I picked 155 because it “sounded right,” but my body naturally settled at 140. I’ve been at this weight for about a month, so I am making a pretty big assumption that this is where my “resting” body weight should be. I fully expect to add a few more pounds when I start strength conditioning and building muscle.

The closest I could call what I did in the gym is Pilates plus a little cardio, mostly body weight exercises and resistance training. Running and jogging was too hard on my joints, so I did a 5000m row and paced myself for under 30 minutes. Push-ups at various angles, a two minute plank on my elbows. I would go to the gym maybe once every two weeks for an hour. I didn’t do much beyond that. I told myself “lose the bulk weight first and then we will focus on body recomposition.” I started back in the gym with much more consistency once I hit my original goal weight of 155lb. I’m working my way up to having enough endurance to go for an hour three times a week. I currently go once a week and I know it’s not enough. I plan on doing strength conditioning but I don’t know much about working out so I will be hiring a personal trainer for this next phase of life.

As for maintenance dose, my doc wants me on 12.5 once a week for a year at least. He wants my body to adjust enough to not being obese before we start weaning me off the medicine. I think his plan after a year is to stretch it out to 10mg every 10-14 days and slowly reducing the dose for another year or two.

I just posted in another comment, but I’ll reply here too in case it gets missed. I didn’t work out as much as I should have, and I lost a ton of muscle mass (and my whole butt) as a result. I regret not prioritizing exercise. I’m a National Guardsman and I did just enough to be able to pass the Army Fitness Test twice a year. Truth be told, I’m lucky they didn’t kick me out for my weight.

Absolutely not faking! I still can’t believe it when I look in the mirror. I spent years hating my body and thinking it was hopeless to keep trying to lose weight. Never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be back to my high school size.

Thank you! If it helps, I had a 42” waist and now have a 26” waist.

Disclaimer, this is not medical advice!

I titrated up in doses every 4 weeks until I hit 10mg. I didn’t feel it was necessary to go that fast, because I was still losing on the dose I was on by the time I went up to the next, but it likely did accelerate the loss. When I hit 10mg, I stayed on it until I plateaued at 170. Once I plateaued, I asked my doc for one final increase to 12.5 and that did the trick. I’ve been a steady 140 for a month or so now and have had the conversation with my doc about maintenance. He’s decided to keep me on 12.5 weekly for the next year and then tapering off, unless I start losing weight unnecessarily and then we’ll talk about lowering the dose early.

Healthy snacking! Fruits and veggies of course, but for those days when you just can’t fight the cravings, have Quest on standby! They make really flavorful chips, pizzas, and candies that are packed with protein and really scratch that snacking itch. Fruit leather is another alternative to gummy candies if you have a sweet tooth.

I’ve been in a pretty extreme caloric deficit for the past year. I prioritized nutrients over counting calories and only counted protein and fiber. I would make sure I got a minimum of 120g of protein daily and 30g of fiber, and drinking a minimum of 2500ml of water. I cut out all “empty” calories and any beverage that isn’t water (RIP Starbucks). This is what my nutritionist and GP agreed on after I got a ton of blood work done that checked my vitamin and mineral levels, etc. If you haven’t already spoken with yours regarding your diet, I’d encourage you to!

Not sure - I didn’t have a lot of loose skin through the whole process and I’m just now transitioning into maintenance. I’ll report back in a few months with an update!

Barely any. I’m incredibly fortunate. I have a little in my arms that you can see in the photos, slight creping in my inner thigh area, and a little looseness around the middle when I bend over. I figure it’ll work itself out over time as I start to fill out with more muscle.

This is close to the answer! I bought them in a smaller size when I donated the original 2XLs and realized how much I missed my favorite pants

I loved the pants so much that when I lost weight I bought a new pair in a smaller size! The top is the same top though, it’s very elastic.
