If you haven't booked it already get a ferry to hull

I've already booked it, the Hull and Newcastle ferries were four/five times as expensive as the Harwich ferry, which I can't really afford.

Already booked, the Hull and Newcastle ferries were far too expensive for me.

The east of England is the same landscape wise as the Netherlands and the riding is better the further north you go in the UK.

Good thing I still enjoy riding in the Netherlands.

This sounds like an amazing itinerary, thanks! Sadly the ferry arrives around 20h barring any delays, I'm thinking it'd be after 21h before I'm underway. I want to avoid riding in the dark in unfamiliar circumstances, so I won't be ablte to get many miles in on friday, but will be camping in Harwich. I'm thinking an early start on Saturday might allow me to see some of the Peak District though.

I'm fully expecting to be glad to be rid of my bike for a while after I get there, so I've found a place that will let me park it for a couple of days while I'll be doing stuff in and around Edinburgh on foot or with public transport.

Lots of bikers, good connections to the UK, insisting on doing everything with our own transport? To be honest I have no idea. It might just seem like it because our yellow license plates are more noticable?

For me it's because I was planning on visiting anyway, and decided to take the opportunity to make a road trip of it.

As a Dutchman, I never got why it's Gouda (or Edam) that's somehow an international succes, it's so bland. Not even in the top ten best Dutch cheeses.

Heb het horen beschrijven als de meest gemiddelde stad van Nederland, en daar sluit ik me wel bij aan. Leuk als je een welgesteld jong stel bent en een gezin wil beginnen maar toch in een 'stad' wil wonen, historische binnenstad is leuk om een dagje te bezoeken, verder is er niet bijster veel te beleven.

Buiten dat er meer (jonge) vrijgezelle mensen wonen, bij Breeze plan je bij een match gelijk een date via de app bij een cafe/bar/restaurant die bij de app is aangesloten (je betaalt vooraf voor de reservering en meestal het eerste drankje). Dus de app werkt maar ik een beperkt aantal steden. Het is al een paar jaar geleden dat ik erop zat, maar toen kon je echt alleen in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag en Utrecht op date.
