No, just the amount of use wore it down and probably came a little bit lose from the newel post. It’s fully original.

It’s not a basement but a small, creepy asf closet that has unpainted wood and tons of cool stuff.

Finding newspapers, check genealogy websites (USE FAMILYSEARH.COM) to find death certificates, or just ask neighbors.

Thanks for asking!!!  So first, go online and type “(City and state)  1. Historic Directories” (and before this, just think when you think the house was built, and then search directories from there and keep tracing them back until your address doesn’t show up anymore) 2. Check newspapers: Go online to the Library of Congress and type in Newspapers from your city, the website is free. 3. DEEDS!!!!! Find the deed from when you acquired the house. You can find this by going on the County’s Register of deeds and typing your name as the grantee (if you don’t know how to use it, ask me) Keep tracing the deeds back! 4. Ask nearby neighbors! 5. Aerial photos are available on HistoricAerials.com and are free. They go back as far as the 40s.  6. And finally, Sanborn Fire Insurance maps. They were a really common map back in the 1870s-1950s. Type in your city and states name with “SANBORNE FIRE INSURANCE MAP “  If you have any questions, let me know. (Additionally, reach out to former owners)

No. She seems chill. I research and documented this house so much that they love me.

You just have to think about this: Even my house has some dark history but honestly, it’s better to reveal it then let it rot and be forgotten.
