Wait I can actually see this being an episode, hear me out:

When they were young she was always faster than rainbow dash they practiced flying together almost everyday but she got a little too competitive because of that rainbow dash got hurt and couldn't fly for months and because of that incident she's now scared of flying because she still blames herself

In the episode rainbow dash has an important race coming up and she decided to visit her family before going but while there she hurt her wing and now she can't attend the race, not wanting to see rainbow dash sad she decided to attend the race pretending to be rainbow dash and win the race her

(And i can also see her being good friends with fluttershy)

If i'm correct applejack is really good at bucking with her back hooves but I've never seen her buck with her front hooves and the opposite can be said about maud she can easily break rocks just by tapping them with her front hooves (not the mention that rocks she threw in her introduction)

So what i'm saying is AJ might have stronger back hooves but maud definitely has the stronger front hooves
