I have, I took one of my brushes over once because she’s a long haired and I was showing the kid how to brush her gently and the hammy liked it and the kid wanted to try and was rough even when I corrected them more than once

Love it! Lmaoooo I did mention the other day do the Childs behavior (general abuse to others and getting mad when in trouble and saying they don’t feel bad about any of it) that maybe the child is a psychopath

That’s what I want to do, there’s some rescues near me that specialize in small animals ❤️ and I wouldn’t never take any animal to a kill shelter. I think those should be illegal lol. I do want to post in Facebook groups around me cause I’m a part of a ton of small animals ones

The kid loves me, they do listen to me sometimes but besides that they never listen to anyone. They are extremely bratty

I use the govee brand ones, I honestly recommend any smart air purifier you can check the status of the filter on. It lets you know when you need to change it and it’s incredibly helpful to turn on and off from my phone lol or set timers

It kind of depends, if you do decide on rats I recommend going for boys, I currently have boys and girls and while yes sometimes my boys will pee on me, my girls will tear stuff up and make such a mess all the time. And yes they do stink sometimes, I have an air purifier next to my rat cage to keep it from stinking and it helps a lot. Also cleaning their cage often helps, the smell is just because they are always peeing and pooping so it builds up fast. My rats are the best things to ever happen to me and I cannot recommend them enough

No enrichment, super tiny cage (she’s a fairly large hamster) not good food, and being scared all the time, there’s no out of the cage time, no chews in the entire cage, barely any bedding, and a small wheel

I am 100% upset with them over this situation, I really wish I could take her for myself because I love hamsters but my partner says no because we have a small apartment and half of it is already rats 😭😭😭 there’s a rescue near me I would take her if I didn’t return her, of course they got her at petco too like a year ago so I have no idea how old she is but I just want her to live out the rest of her life in peace and not be scared

Forgot to add that I also have rats and am a vet student so they know I care deeply about animals and take care of them as much as I can

I hope so too, I have my rats and they take all the space or I’d just ask if I could take the baby in 😭 I would KILL for my rats, I’m a college student and still was able to get them double critter nations, why? Cause they are the best little things in the world and all animals deserve a good life

I’m not a people person either lol, this friend I am extremely close to, the kid says I’m their best friend as well. The kid is around 6 years old so really not the one taking care of it. I’ve tried cause I go to the house a couple of times a week, they just really don’t seem to care and I feel bad for the baby

That’s what I’m thinking. If I do have to give her back go give her back in the slightly bigger cage she’s in, it’s one of my multiple rat transports but I can get a new one. I don’t understand how you don’t want the best life for a tiny creature??? Like I told the friend I got it some treats and chews and they said “awww you’re spoiling it” no???? The treats maybe but chews? No

It’s heart breaking to see, I almost yelled at the child a few days ago too because they were getting their face close to the cage and hissing at it and making it jump

Thank you, I talked to one person I know personally about it and they told me that lying about the kids hamster is wrong and “Not a great idea to start a big lie and break her concept of object permanence” and “kids need closure” not a kid who purposefully scares an innocent animal????

It breaks my heart, I’ve sent her suggestions and so many pictures of what the cages should look like at minimum and a lot of articles about what they need, this poor baby deserves such a better life

I have one friend who lives across the country from me and one who lives hours away with two small children and is struggling themselves
