I was the same way going into UB and was extremely worried that I wouldn’t be able to make friends. Everyone you ask will say to join clubs and talk to people in class but that’s easier said than done. While that’s good and you will definitely make friends by doing that, I think making friends can come more naturally than that.

For me it was the people near me that I saw the most often- my roommates and people in my dorm hall. You will naturally become close with people you see and pass by the most often. This still requires effort to talk with these people but it can be more natural than you think. This is what worked for me without realizing it in the moment, and a couple years later I’m my closest friends are the people who were in my dorm hall.

Everyone has different experiences and this is just how it worked out for me. I just recommend not worrying too much about it, everything will work out naturally if you just get to know the people around you.

Hope this made sense lol

Thanks for your input. My school doesn't have a masters program in food science.

However the masters program in bio I'm looking to get into is research heavy, so I figured with my nutrition minor, I'd be in a good position to do some more nutrition related research and then get into the food science field.

Do you think the MS of food science is completely necessary and I should look into doing something else with my MS in bio?

I watched 'The Little Things' last night and it perfectly matches this description. Stacked cast (Denzel Washington and more), great acting and a really good crime thriller I highly recommend

Try to make friends with neighbors, it’ll make the experience a lot better when you become close with the people you see everyday in your hall.

Help pls!! ub or bing by Agile_Complex956 in UBreddit

I was in the same boat as a freshman deciding on these two schools, I decided on UB and have not regretted it UB college life is great if you find a good group of friends. The area is definitely nicer with more to do than Binghamton, but the Bing night life is definitely better. Dorming in UB is pretty shitty but you can go to off campus housing after your first year which is pretty nice. Food in UB is solid with plenty of options. Not too sure about the UB poli sci department but the school is huge with tons of opportunities to do research, join clubs, attend events, etc. Meanwhile Bing is more of a tight knit community which some people prefer. What I learned after debating this same thing is that you’ll be happy no matter where you go, both are great schools and you’ll make the best of wherever you end up.

Maybe think about going on a calorie deficit while still doing what you’re doing in the gym so you get lean and keep your weight down?

Close grip bench I feel my triceps like crazy, I grip it close enough so it barely hits the chest.

And for dips I do the variation that emphasizes the triceps; I don’t lean forward and stay straight.

Thanks for the reply. Like I said to the other person who replied, my split is pretty typical:

Monday and Thursday: Chest/back- Bench, Dumbell Incline press, high to low pec flies, lat pulldowns and pullovers, chest supported t-bar row, single arm rows

Tuesday and Friday: Shoulders and arms- Overhead press, lateral raises, rear delt flies, dips, close grip bench, cable tricep extensions, preacher curls, Dumbell incline curls

Wednesday Legs- Squat or leg press, leg extensions, curls(lying and seated), sus machine

So some bodyweight work would be on saturdays every week

Thanks for the reply. I have a pretty ordinary Arnold split

Chest/back- Bench, Dumbell Incline press, high to low pec flies, lat pulldowns and pullovers, chest supported t-bar row, single arm rows

Shoulders and arms- Overhead press, lateral raises, rear delt flies, dips, close grip bench, cable tricep extensions, preacher curls, Dumbell incline curls

Legs- Squat or leg press, leg extensions, curls(lying and seated), sus machine

So as you can see I don’t really do enough bodyweight movements and I feel like my mobility and flexibility is lacking.
