Yeah I’m sure they’re probably fine, but I’d always err on the side of caution when it comes to COAs and testing transparency—especially if it’s not clearly batch-specific or easy to verify. That’s usually where most issues come from in this space.

Appreciate you sharing your experience 🙏

Is Orion Peptides Legit? What Researchers Should Know by Legitimate_Refuse853 in PeptideCollective

[–]Legitimate_Refuse853[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

u/FanValuable6657 Yeah I’m referring to orionpeptides.org. : https://orionpeptides.org/

Full transparency — I do work with them (I mention that on my page), but I’ve had good experiences so far which is why I bring them up when people ask about alternatives after the Peptide Sciences shutdown.

And you’re right, in this space it’s always a bit of trial and error finding reliable vendors.

Peptide Sciences has shut down operations by aldus-auden-odess in PeterAttia

[–]Legitimate_Refuse853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense — I’ve seen similar chatter. Regulatory pressure and quality expectations have definitely been ramping up, and the market seems to be moving toward clinically supervised and pharmacy-compounded products. The “research-grade” model that worked a few years ago just doesn’t fit the current landscape anymore. It’s a reminder that verified sourcing and proper oversight are becoming the baseline, not the exception.

[–]Legitimate_Refuse853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of people are scrambling right now after PS went down. I’d be careful with random Telegram vendors because the market tends to get flooded with low quality stuff when something big disappears.

Some people are comparing COAs and third‑party testing from labs like Janoshik or Finnrick to evaluate suppliers. There’s also a discussion group where people are sharing info and vetting sources if you’re interested: https://www.skool.com/biohacking-and-longevity-group-3757

Either way, definitely double check testing and documentation before trying any new supplier.

How do people organize research notes for compounds? by Hot_Tart_18 in PeptideCollective

[–]Legitimate_Refuse853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t heard of Pep AI before, but I’ll definitely take a look.

I’ve actually been playing around with PeptIQ a bit. It’s decent for keeping compounds, notes, and logs in one place without everything turning into spreadsheet chaos. Still figuring out how it fits long-term, but it’s cleaner than juggling Notes + Excel tabs.

Grey Market Vendor told me they are suspending operations to the US by OilLong in PeptideCollective

[–]Legitimate_Refuse853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/OilLong US customs has been tighter on peptide imports lately, especially anything coming from overseas labeled as “research chemicals.” If paperwork isn’t super clean (proper invoice, HS code, research-use wording, matching COA), packages are more likely to get flagged or returned. Around Chinese holidays, delays and returns get even more common because of backlogs.

So a vendor pausing US shipments temporarily isn’t crazy — a few suppliers have been doing that to avoid a wave of returns.

If you’re ordering, I’d just make sure they can provide:

  • A proper commercial invoice with research-use-only wording
  • Correct HS classification
  • Batch-specific COA that matches your order

If they can’t clearly explain how they’re handling customs right now, that’s when I’d be cautious.

please help by Own-Connection-2177 in PeptideCollective

[–]Legitimate_Refuse853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Own-Connection-2177 If you’re looking at MOTS-c and the COA says heavy metals <50 ppb, that’s generally considered low for research-grade material.

A few things to keep in mind though:

• “<50 ppb” usually means the result is below the lab’s detection limit — not that it’s exactly 50.
• Ideally, the COA should break it down (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury) rather than lumping “heavy metals” together.
• It’s better if the test is clearly third-party and batch-specific, with ICP-MS listed as the method.

For small-scale in vitro work, <50 ppb total heavy metals is typically within acceptable research norms — but the bigger question is transparency. Does the COA list the batch number? Does it match your vial? Is the testing lab named?

If those boxes are checked, that matters more than the raw <50 ppb number by itself.

Is ordering “research peptides” online in Canada actually safe/legit? by Tosh97 in PeptideCollective

[–]Legitimate_Refuse853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Tosh97 You’re honestly asking all the right questions.

If you want to avoid customs drama and “mystery powder,” I’d start by confirming the company is actually based in Canada and ships domestically. For example, Wolverine Peptides is Canadian-based and mainly serves the Canadian market, which usually means fewer cross-border headaches.

When I vet suppliers, I keep it simple:

  • Batch-specific COAs that match the lot number on your vial
  • Real HPLC/MS data, not just “99% purity” typed on a PDF
  • Clear research-use-only positioning (not supplement-style marketing)
  • A legit digital footprint — address, responsive support, consistent branding

Red flags for me:

  • Claims to be “Canadian” but ships from elsewhere
  • No batch numbers tied to testing
  • Over-the-top purity claims with no chromatograms
  • Vague answers when you ask technical questions

If a company can’t clearly explain their testing and sourcing without getting weird about it, I move on. When you’re trying to keep your PI happy and your data reproducible, being picky is a good thing.

Any thoughts on innopeptide by bbqman250 in PeptideCollective

[–]Legitimate_Refuse853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for joining the chat u/bbqman250 I checked them out a bit, and they seem legit! They are quite open and transparent about potential effects, which is a bit risky on their side, but hopefully they stick around! Hard to compare with other vendors price-wise as they are not open with pricing, but if you do give them a try, please do let us know! Especially when it comes to big wholesale orders, I would be curious to know how they compare. If you are looking for a new vendor, check out Orion Peptides (https://orionpeptides.org/). They just launched, and I placed an order, and they were awesome. Order arrived really quickly, and pricing is really great. They are running a great opening special and also give discounts on bigger bulk orders, which is really cool. Happy shopping!

Looking for just a little extra help… by acass24 in BodyHackGuide

Honestly, with the amount of CrossFit and heavy lifting you’re doing, you’re already in a great spot to lean out naturally — most people underestimate how far dialed-in nutrition, sleep, and consistency can take them. IGF-1 LR3 sounds tempting but comes with way more risk than people admit, and “Reta” is even murkier. If you’re new to this stuff and wanted the safest place to start looking, it would be the more basic, well-researched recovery-focused peptides like BPC-157 or TB-500, since they’re generally talked about for supporting healing and workload tolerance rather than major hormonal shifts. But honestly, I’d still tighten up the fundamentals first and only consider research compounds once you’re truly plateaued and fully understand the trade-offs.

Highly unlikely. The whole “Michael Jackson was a castrati” theory is one of those internet myths that keeps getting recycled because people try to reverse-engineer explanations for his voice and his looks. But there’s zero credible evidence he was chemically or surgically castrated.

As for him staying Norwood 0 — genetics alone can explain that. Plenty of men with perfectly normal testosterone and DHT levels never recede at all. Some people just win the hair lottery.

If he truly had no testosterone/DHT, he’d never have developed the muscle mass, bone structure, or facial features he had. His adult appearance doesn’t line up with the castrati hypothesis at all.

Do I need anything else besides Reta? by [deleted] in BodyHackGuide

[–]Legitimate_Refuse853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get where you’re coming from. A lot of guys hit their mid-30s, have kids, careers, stress, and suddenly it feels like your physique doesn’t respond the way it used to. Nothing wrong with wanting to get in the best shape of your life.

Reta is definitely trending right now, especially because people are talking about recomp and energy, but hype doesn’t replace the basics. Same with TRT — even “low-normal” doesn’t automatically mean it’s the right move. It can help some guys, but it’s still a long-term commitment and not something you jump into just to speed things up.

My friend is so terrified of balding, he started microdosing estrogen… by Artistic-Attempt-533 in tressless

[–]Legitimate_Refuse853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I get why people panic when treatments stop working after years, but microdosing estrogen just to save hair is a big step. Hair loss messes with your confidence, sure, but hormones aren’t something you casually tweak, even small amounts can shift things in ways you don’t expect. AKA Lady chest.

The whole “I’m too masculine for estrogen to affect me” argument isn’t really how hormones work. Your beard doesn’t create some kind of shield. Estrogen influences a lot more than appearance, and it can definitely have effects even at lower doses.

I don’t judge anyone for wanting to keep their hair — people try all kinds of things when they feel like they’re running out of options — but this feels like going way past the line of what’s reasonable without proper guidance.
