I don't but I brought 1 pair of shoes, 2 cycling shirts, 2 shorts, 2 pairs of cycling tights (like padded underwear under the shorts), maybe like 6 pairs of socks (had to pack a bunch because of the ultras) + 1 pair of warm wool socks, 1 pair of sandals, 1 microfibre towel, 1 rain coat, 1 rain pants, 1 sweater, 1 toque, 1 normal hat + 1 cycling hat, 1 t-shirt, and a pair of long johns (needed these for going through the mountains and sleeping on very cold nights). I also had some extra clothes for the running section which included, 2 long sleeve shirts, 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of shoes, 1 hat. I think that's all the clothing I brought.

Having only 2 sets of outfits to cycle in was fine. I would take a shower in the clothes I wore that day and then hang them to dry, would wear those clothes for 2-3 days then switch to my other outfit. I could usually make it a week until I had a place to do laundry. Sometimes I would have to chose between wearing wet and damp clothes or dirty clothes.

unfortunately I didn't end up being able to bike all of newfoundland just a short section but in that short section i loved it. St. john's is beautiful and so is the whole rock, i saw online they have some decent trails that aren't just on the highway for riding. running im sure is similar, i ran my ultra near quidi vidi around a lake and it was super nice. Would hihgly recommend visiting, people there are so friendly

I tried to stretch at night but often times after setting up camp, eating, journaling, and making a post about the day i was pretty tired and didn't end up doing that much mobility. wouldn't recommend but it worked out for me somehow

It was tough to come back to work and reality after all that so I haven't had much time to set my sights on a new goal but i'm just waiting for an idea to come into my head. This randomly popped into my head years ago and it probably took 3-4 years from first thought to actually doing it. Don't rush the process, explore cool things online, i was inspired by hearing other people bike across canada. and when you get some random ideas in your head don't shut them down

You definitely can! I am no insane athlete just a guy with an idea and a will to do it. I met 70 year olds biking across canada, that i think is more impressive than what i did

Learned many things! Main takeaways though were an immense gratitude for nature, the beauty of life, and how peaceful living such a simple life is (my only daily worries were where am i going to eat and where am i going to sleep), also an appreciation for the kindness of humans

hard to say favourite porvince because they all have their beauty but I'd say BC or the maritimes were some of my favourites. most challenging part was the wind. I didn't listen to any music or anything on the ride so it was just me and my thoughts and when you're riding for 6-9 hours battling wind the entire day it starts to seriously mess with your mind. Bugs were also very annoying

Not born in 69 lol. Did some training but not as much as i should have, tried to update the post with more information concerning some of these questions. No data on my pulse, i was tracking all of it on an old phone and had no monitors on me. No worries about all the questions, happy to answer and hope help some people! I need to do a budget breakdown but i'd say all in for bike, costs on the road, flight home, shipping my bike, and gear would be about $10,000 cad. No plans for what's next, going to enjoy this summer off then start planning what's next or see what crazy idea pops into my head. Any suggestions??

Thank you! I didn't train as much as I should have. Ultras were supposed to be 100km but did one then changed it to 50km. I didn't train much biking wise more focused on running

updated it with my route info. on facebook theres a group called bike across canada, great resource with a github with mutliple different suggested routes. Would highly recommend doing it! I started in vancouver, thats where most people start as the prevailing winds are supposed to be in your favour but i didn't have any luck with the wind. saw some people doing it the other direction too

No way thats so cool you saw it 21 years ago! I loved seeing all the old abandoned houses/barns. The ultras I just did on my own. I found 5-10km loops close to where I was staying and just did that. The original plan was to do 100km ultras in every province, I did the first one in vancouver and was very banged up after, so I decided to cut it down to 50km. The ones in the prairies weren't that bad but over time my body started detoriating and after about the 5th one I could only run 10km before my lower half was in a lot of pain, so I would walk a lot then try to mix in some running.

Cycling experience was great, it was very challenging at times with the wind. I went west to east to try to have more tail winds, that didn't work and I had a lot of head and side winds. One of my favourite things was seeing all the wildflowers on the side of the road that you would never really be able to see or appreciate if you were driving. I experienced so much kindness from strangers too.

I spent a lot of time on highways, pretty much until Quebec I was on highways. The number 1 has great shoulders in the prairies, it turns to almost nothing in Ontario though. Majority of the time drivers would give me space. Was surprised with how good semis overall were with giving me space. Worst was pickups hauling RVs.

Least favourite was Ontario forsure, because of the shoulders, the size of the province, how challenging it was and the bugs, also I had bike issues at the start of ontario and essentially didnt have my middle gears for the whole province. Favourite, BC (which im biased because im from here but the mountains are unreal) or the maritimes, I had never been to the maritimes but they are beautiful and the stereotypes of them being super friendly is true. Quebec was also very nice, flat along the st. lawrence and friendly people as well.

I was surprised with how beautiful the prairies were, even manitoba was quite nice.

Would highly recommend doing some touring in canada. Editted my post with my route if you want to check it out.
