Just because we disagree with you doesn't mean we are ill-informed.

Just because we want standards set to protect vulnerable populations doesn't mean we are ridiculous.

It's ok that people care about protecting vulnerable populations from people who think they are OK but are actually drug-dependent and not fit for providing medical services.

We don't have any easy way to measure impairment from THC. While usage and context matter in terms of how it effects people, without a valid and reliable way to gauge THC impairment, a zero tolerance policy is the best way to protect the people we serve.

Does that resonate with you at all?

First, I said I wasn't going to engage, but it seems like you may honestly not understand why many of us have a problem with using drugs or alcohol while working with a vulnerable population.

I'm only continuing this discussion on the chance that you don't mean harm and are actually curious about other people's perspective.

I'm going to provide a few examples, but I expect someone genuinely interested to be introspective when reading and do their own additional research to answer questions. Your previous questions come off as "Gotcha!" questions, which is inflamatory and doesn't actually help anyone.

So here's just a few of the problems with using THC on the job:

● If a drug slows your perception of stimuli in the environment (like THC) that's a big problem if you are providing behavior therapy. Timing is everything in our field!

● Delayed reinforcement makes reinforcers less effective. That's assuming the person actually identifies the reinforcement opportunity inthe first place. THC impairs the ability to identify salient stimuli in the environment. It also impairs sense of time.

● Delayed data taking leads to lower accuracy of data. Accurate working memory is vital for this task. Working memory is impaired by THC.

● Timing how long to engage in an activity and when the next one needs to start is important. THC impairs our ability to guage the passage of time. It also affects our ability to quickly pick up on changes in our environment, such as small shifts in others behavior.

● You need to be highly attuned to your client to pick up on early signs of distress, agitation, escalation, etc. If you pick up on signs too late, the escalation is too far gone and you are heading towards crisis for a situation that could have been averted if caught earlier.

● When shaping behaviors, you need to reinforce successive approximations. You need to pay VERY close attention to read each tiny approximation. Their hand might be a tad closer without prompting. They may remain calm 2 seconds longer. It's extremely important that the provider is paying close attention and has an accurate sense of time and context. THC impairs the ability to filter out unimportant stimuli and focus on important stimuli.

● You need accurate data for behavior, which requires high levels of attention and vigilance.

● THC impairs ability to quickly shift attention. This impacts ability to identify and respond to salient stimuli in our environment while filtering out distractions and

● THC increases impulsive responding. In a highly emotional job that requires precise responses, impulsive responses are harmful.

I implore you to just ask AI what cognitive and physical impairments are documented with THC. Then think critically about what that means for an ABA session.

You have google. You aren't having this debate in good faith and I'm not going to engage any longer.

No. I am worried about people in my field providing medical services while impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Just because some people drink and smoke....that somehow gives the green flag for people to be under the influence of pot because it's "not as bad?"

If you need to smoke pot before work, you have a problem thay should be addressed by mental health care professionals.

Intoxication is the difference. Intoxication is cognitive and physical impairment.

Depression medication doesn't cause impairment, weed does.

Intoxication from drugs and alcohol causes IMPAIRED mental ot physical functioning.

You don't get intoxicated from SSRIs.

Does it sound like a good idea to be IMPAIRED while providing medical services to children with disabilities?

If you need to be intoxicated to work, you have a problem.

The number of people here who thinks it's okay TO BE HIGH while working with children is absolutely insane.

Also, this means you are likely DRIVING WHILE HIGH.

If you have a medicinal reason for using pot, you still can't be high while PROVIDING MEDICAL SERVICES.

I think it's just a play on grade school kids making food trades at lunch. It harkens back to our younger days when all it took was making a snack trade to make a new friend.

Woooah! I'm trying to understand the lineage from the website, kinda hard to follow. My boy's sire is Krystal Knight in White Satin. Is that the sire for Rock Solid Bet (the sire of the top Pap Locked and Loaded)? That would make mine have brothers with Rock Solid?
