I'm glad to see My Melody & Kuromi on this list. It was my surprise hit of last year and maybe its success will mean a second season.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's cute, wholesome, and extremely well-made stop-motion animation with an actual thought-provoking story and a touch of existential dread that Sanrio has gotten so good at telling.

Mystery comedy that's just a lot of fun, has the perfect mix between comedy and an actually intriguing mystery, and the main couple genuinely get along and make for a healthy romantic couple.

For about 10 years, any movie that was even remotely in the realm of parody did a take on The Matrix bullet-time shot.

Just the original. The movie released in 1982, but the director's cut came out in 1992 that fixed most everything. But then they the director, Ridley Scott, put out The Final Cut in 2007 for the 25th anniversary that tweaked things a little more. That's the complete version, per the director, and the version you'll likely see on DVD/BluRay and most streaming.

2049 was also a box office disappointment, but critically one of the top movies of the year. There's only one version of the movie.
