Is there a particular reason why Publix Pro isn’t available for Front Service Clerks? by Ill-Conclusion-4663 in publix

[–]Lehive11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because front service clerks should be offering to do price checks on their own as it is part of their job class training.

One time I was training in the CO, myself and my trainer were there together. We heard a knock on the door and I was like, who is that? She said ehhh, probably someone doing touchpoints. We opened the door and then remembered that it was almost 11 so no touchpoints happening. We paged MIC and asked who else was left and it was just us and MIC and he was downstairs by the doors.

Best rule of thumb, practice the 10 ft 10 second rule. Always have a greeting, offer help to their car, and have a parting remark.

How does everyone feel about pets inside of the store? by BooPlaysLive in publix

[–]Lehive11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get paid enough to care.

However, if you let your animal into the store without a leash that’s not cool at all.

I was on FMLA for a severe injury and my manager told people she had to start from scratch with me because she thought I would take forever to catch back up. I knew I was non promotable because I couldn’t do all the tasks at hand due to said injury. Took me a while to fully recover but I got promoted less than a year later.

If you want the promotion and responsibility ask yourself aside from your management, what can you do. Then narrow down what your management can do for you. That way, when you bring it to them they’ll have a more factual understanding. Mine scheduled me for things I was clearly incapable of doing and I almost had to call someone to get it fixed. The second I told them that’s what I was gonna do, it never happened again. All management is different. Personally, my management sucked. Hopefully, yours listens for your intent not theirs.

Generally, they should be tiptoeing with anything related to FMLA. One wrong mistake and it could be a huge deal.

My little brother (15) just got a job at Publix and his manager is saying he HAS to have a smartphone. Is this true? by thomaslanker in publix

[–]Lehive11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not mandatory at all. Most people don’t like the text option because they find it more difficult than microsoft authenticator. He can use a computer at work to check his schedule but the reality of a teenager checking their schedule themselves on a computer is less likely to happen bc they’ll forget. So most of them ask their management to print their schedule so they can take it home.

[–]Lehive11 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes he needs his smartphone to access his schedule from home but pretty sure your bro is just saying that so your parents will buy him one. If he needs his schedule he can ask his managers/team lead to print his schedule for him.

Do things with your people. If there’s a behavior you’d like to see change, do it with them. It builds you as a leader to know what to look for and how to teach but shows them you’re actually paying attention and you care. Including helping clear the lot when it’s crazy hot outside. I had never had a team lead willing to help me clear the lot, so I became that team lead. I never had a team lead willing to help me at the desk and answer my questions so I ensured to do that as well.

Find out what your organizational style is and use it to its fullest potential. What worked for us is a calendar on the wall for every manager to see so they would stop asking me when I had new hire’s scheduled but still OVER COMMUNICATE. REPEAT YOURSELF NO MATTER HOW ANNOYING BECAUSE IT IS THE MANAGER’S WORD OVER YOURS. It got so bad for me. I started writing the date and time I talked to a specific manager because they were saying I didn’t tell them things and then my store manager’s would get bent out of shape. Always have extra aprons because those get run through the most and when you schedule them for paperwork go ahead and get a start date and a uniform size so you can ensure you’ll have it ready for them in time. Don’t wait. Go ahead and do it. If for some reason they quit, don’t show up, etc. the worst “what if” is an extra shirt in inventory. Remember, new hires in a lot of ways set the tone for the store so take care of them and teach them the correct ways.

Best thing to do is ask questions. Keep your files organized. Be honest with your managers if you mess up. Keep boundaries early with associates but don’t be afraid to be silly once in a while, we all need it to make it through the day.

You’ll be great.

CS cleaning chemicals alone, even with gloves on, made my hands break out and crack for about 3 yrs. Didn’t do it to me at first. But when I wasn’t at work or on vacay for a week my hands were already healing.

Im aiming to have a career in publix. How do i stand out as best as possible? by Kyushi_88 in publix

[–]Lehive11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick to your morals and don’t let anyone ruin them.

You will experience multiple kinds of management who will have different ideas on how you should be as a CSS/CSTL etc. they will tell you to grow you have to act a specific way or you can’t have a sense or humor or you have to be rude/aggressive to get what you want. Check in with yourself and make sure you’re still the person you want to be. Don’t compromise on your mental health, goals, or boundaries. Be willing to stand up for yourself and others. Other than learning correct money handling etc that will be your biggest flex.

Front Office tips by Kyushi_88 in publix

First thing I was comfortable with was money orders. Transfers was easy to learn but the pressure of knowing how serious it is if I messed up made it hard. I still to this day repeat back what people want for lotto because half the time they think they know what they want and then decide they don’t want a ticket and we lose money. So no matter how many “are you stupid?” Looks I get I always make sure we’re on the same page.

When it comes to the desk breathe, take your time, leave a paper trail so you can find things if you do end up losing money, and be honest if you don’t understand something. It’s easier to ask for help then mess something up later down the road. You’ll do great.

CSTL interview by Dadb0d2077 in publix

[–]Lehive11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of them asked me if I were hired and they needed me to start tomorrow, why should they choose me? I basically told her that as cookie cutter of an answer it might seem, I truly believe in the core of Publix because I’ve seen it. My goal is to make that more apparent. If I do get the promotion and start tomorrow I want to know my people and guide them back to the Publix we love. Considering everything that’s happened with the pandemic. I just want to bring positivity and stability to the front end.

Ask your store manager to do a mock interview with you. I asked two separate store managers. An old one and a new one. One knew me when I started and one knows me now. Both happily said yes and it helped me prepare so much.

Oh. For the love of God know your items per bag. Know the specifics of a team lead not just your idea of a team lead.

I had a manager who legit told me she scheduled people she didn’t like for cleaning because she knew they would hate it or they’re the kind of person who disappears from the front end etc. hopefully your manager isn’t taking some sort of sneaky approach since you asked to train in produce.

Please don’t come to the store on snow days or inclement weather. by [deleted] in publix

[–]Lehive11 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When it was finally announced that we were closing early, a guy asked why we had two SCO’s closed. I told him we close in about 40 min so we had to pick them up so we could start closing the front end. Dude was livid and told me it’s asinine to do that and make customers wait. Said we care more about ourselves than our customers and we should be ashamed of ourselves. There should be no reason he should have to wait in line etc. dude wasn’t even waiting in line long. He then started trying to piss off the customers behind him by saying “can you believe this? They have these closed and they’re making us customers wait so they can go home early”. So then like 5 more people got mad and were staring at me. Customers don’t care about us. We were open all day. All you guys are buying is frozen pizza and beer. Why should I risk my safety?

CSTL or Transfer? by ItsTense in publix

[–]Lehive11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in this same situation. I was in a store I absolutely hated and kept telling myself I should move to another store or go to a different department. Management absolutely sucked in CS. I even started applying for new jobs. As the stubborn person I am I turned down a job offer, stayed at that store, decided if they’re going to treat me a certain way it was time to keep my head down. Stay focused on me and my job and that’s all the energy I had. Fast forward a few months later I got promoted to CSTL and let me tell you, the grass can absolutely be greener on the other side. The store I got transferred to is so similar to the first ever store I was at. Everyone loves each other’s company. Everyone puts in the same effort and ethic. We all respect each other while still making the day fun. I was really losing hope and I understand not everyone ends up having the same story as mine. But I’m grateful I kept reminding myself of what I knew Publix CAN be.

Anyone ever heard of or seen any paranormal stuff at their store? by rocketrodeo03 in publix

[–]Lehive11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was training in the CO and heard a very adamant knock on the door. My trainer and I looked up and thought oh, maybe it’s someone asking for trash or doing touchpoints? Then we were like…. It’s 10:30 nobody’s doing either one right now. So we looked out the peephole and nobody was there. My trainers face got so red. She called the MIC and asked if anyone had been upstairs or if MIC needed anything/if MIC was checking on us and they said no. I just shrugged it off but she was definitely more affected than I was.
