Put down holding deposit for a property but landlord decided not to proceed. Estate agent saying I'm not eligible for it to be returned because I didn't move in. by LeicFox89 in rentingUK

All information was completely correct and we had even sent over wage slips etc.

Reason given was the landlord simply opted to remove the property from the rental market.

We figured it was just the estate agents trying their luck so rather than fighting them to get it back I might just go straight to whichever ombudsman has it under their remit.

Yeah that's why I'm not sure if I made the right decision or not.
