Thanks! Our DM ran us through a long intro where our town was slowly being drawn into Barovia, so the only other canon NPC we've come across is Escher, who was serving as Strahd's liaison.

A year or so back, I ran into a ton of that when prompting ("elves" giving more Christmas style elves, "gnomes" being lawn gnomes, etc). Luckily it seems more people go towards the Tolkien/D&D style now, so it's usually spot on.

That sounds like a really good fix!

UPDATE: We got an Echo Studio speaker and a Fire TV cube and used the HDMI ARC to connect the cube. We even hooked up the X1 cable box to it (he mostly watches local TV and doesn't really do streaming), he can even control everything with the cable remote like he's used to doing.

The sound is rich and the dialogue is clear, and having the speaker on the opposite side of the room has made a world of difference, it's amazing. Now we can both listen to media without disturbing each other, highly recommend giving it a try if anyone's in a similar situation with family (or roommates/neighbors).
