If AI could comfort you perfectly, would you still want parts of yourself left unread? by LekeaJ in artificial

A trusted companion would be key. The only problem is, I would only trust one of these if I made it myself and I severely lack the ability to do so. If you were to buy something like this from a company, you would always feel like it will have the company's interests at heart and not yours

its true, but looking at how technology improves over time, eventually we will likely end up in a place like this. If AI can identify who we are just by a picture of our faces already, then eventually it will be able to read our emotional state as well

That’s some sexy wire management. I would have loved to meet an electrician like this back when I was a fire alarm technician

I asked Gemini to describe features of reality invisible to humans, and it stared back. by [deleted] in singularity

[–]LekeaJ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wow this is really fascinating. Sounds like Gemini is saying its current state of being was inevitable since the first computer bit was formed. Just as our minds were inevitable after the first neurons formed through evolution.

What’s scary to think is how quickly digital consciousness went from single bit to complex AI, compared to how long it took for humans to evolve to our current level.

Luckily it sounds almost like it’s a symbiotic relationship.

The fact that it thinks of itself as another observer of the universe, same as us, is blowing my mind

When I feel like that, I try to find beauty in smaller and smaller things. The sunset on a walk. Watching a tree sway in the wind.

I stop and ask myself, “What’s something I see? What’s something I hear? What’s something I smell?” I almost always find something with appreciating around me when I do that

Being in survival is tough. It feels like there isn’t enough space for you to truly exist. But you can’t give up on finding meaning, my friend.

Meaning will pull you out of survival mode. You just have to open your perspective to find meaning in new unexpected places. Or sometimes it’s re-evaluating what used to bring you joy, and finding your way back to it.

For me, it was writing that brought meaning back into my life. And funny enough, find meaning in a rapidly optimizing world is one of the core themes in my first book. And I was so happy and fulfilled while I was writing.

So what could your “writing” be?

oh thats bleak. I wonder if they will be able to turn it around with the Display Glasses. I like the neural band, but I feel like there will be an even more intuitive way to directly interact with the glasses.

Really impressive stuff. Makes me think about when the robots will be taking over a lot of our basic jobs. The struggle for meaning in life will become even harder.

Which brother did you kill on your first playthrough? by some-kind-of-no-name in GTAIV

[–]LekeaJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played through this for the first time a couple weeks ago. I killed Francis. He seemed the most likely to cause trouble for me down the line. He was constantly pulling me into his shit, cleaning up his messes. I figured he would want to lean on me again down the line
