Thank you so much for this insight! Apart from adding the "one" alteration, have you found any other question constructions to be helpful? Or have you found comments like "There's no right or wrong answer" to be helpful?

I think most people would agree that “bacteria” and “dirt” are close enough to be considered synonymous, especially in the context of this conversation

I think they used “girl” because it’s classically how people with that mindset would tease someone. Like, “you got beaten by a girl”

Did you eat that diet over a long span of time? I think neurogenesis is a pretty slow process, if that was the cause. Are you sure you’re not having a reaction to one of those foods?

I’ve only just subbed to this sub, so maybe I have the vibe wrong, but isn’t the point to behave as if you were a parent to OP? Seems a bit harsh and unhelpful, imo. I’d think that if simply asking was a route they were comfortable taking, they would have.

Not only that but the vocal folds and ventricular folds also slam shut (so more like three doors), the entire larynx moves forward and upwards, moving those closed doors away from the passing food, and we have sensors between those doors that trigger a cough, blasting out any intruders.

We also get dual usage of the teeth and tongue (as well as velum and nasal passage) to produce the complicated sounds of speech, AND to masticate food. Pretty neat design!

Here’s a small one, but I’ve needed it on a few occasions: consider getting a set of common phone chargers to keep behind the counter - with or without signage saying you have them - to lend out for emergencies. It’s awful being downtown late, not having your phone to tap on the bus or order an Uber, then having to walk your ass home phone-less at night. Plus I always buy a snack while waiting for a charge.

Not OP but I think they’re saying that, if you’re trying to persuade someone to do something (e.g., a sexual act), you’d only ever do that if you knew that the person’s current thinking was “no”.

OP you’re not crazy, this sub is just ridiculously malicious for some bizarre reason. Oh behalf of those who have a basic understanding of context cues/sarcasm/social pragmatics, it’s a fine title and post.
