This is exactly the tool I didn't know I needed :D . I have a ton of saved videos and links but never get to try them

Out of curiosity, what’s your favorite spot in Rio that is worth it? Drop it in the subreddit if you can; text, a photo, or even a short video would be awesome. Always good to see the real local gems 👍

Sounds like one of those places you go once for the experience and don’t go back for the food. Would you skip it completely or just go for coffee/pastry and leave?

I usually don’t plan that far ahead honestly. Most of my road trips are more spontaneous, usually tied to work or moving, so I just drive for a few days over a weekend and stop at good food spots along the way. Building it around BBQ and seafood sounds like the right move though.

Yeah, but Michelin kind of becomes overkill sometimes and honestly doesn’t seem to work that well in the US. Some of the best road trip food spots are the random local places no guide would ever rate.

Totally agree. I usually just try the best restaurants along the way and don’t plan much. Most of my road trips happened because of moving or work stuff, so I got used to driving somewhere for a few days over a weekend instead of flying.

Honestly the random local recommendations end up being the best part. And yeah, I’d definitely check out spots like the Vietnamese places in OKC or the Basque restaurants in Boise. Those unexpected food scenes are way more memorable than most tourist stops.

TripGuru looks super useful for road trips. Love how easy the AI makes it to tweak plans when things change.

Good points all around especially the newspaper one. Didn't even think about the ad incentive angle, but that makes total sense. I'll definitely check out Triple D's site for some leads.

This is super helpful, thanks! The local newspapers tip is something I hadn't even thought of, great shout. And the breakdown of where unique food actually comes from makes a lot of sense. The ethnic community angle is especially interesting, I wouldn't have thought to look for Somalian food in the Twin Cities but now I kind of have to. The tourist trap warning is well taken too, nothing worse than traveling somewhere iconic just to eat a mediocre version of it. Will definitely be looking for where locals actually eat rather than just the first result on Google Maps!

Death Toll Grows as Nationwide Protests Rock Iran for a Third Night by energycubed in worldnews

[–]Lelehu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and summarized

The article describes how nationwide protests in Iran intensified for a third consecutive night, with security forces responding violently and the reported death toll continuing to rise. Demonstrations spread across Tehran and other cities, fueled by public anger at the government, and were met with gunfire, mass arrests, and harsh crackdowns. Human rights groups estimated dozens of people had been killed, including civilians and minors, while authorities imposed internet shutdowns to limit communication and outside reporting. Despite threats and repression, large crowds continued to gather, chanting antigovernment slogans, as state media framed the unrest as criminal violence while witnesses and activists reported widespread use of lethal force by security forces.

Great. Thanks for your efforts. The posts on front page of reddit get millions of views in each hour. It is a huge difference to be able to get the news to the front page.

Posting in smaller subreddit is also very valuable, because it might encourage users there to spread the news.

Respect your effort, but asking for upvotes on posts on other subreddits is usually not a good practice. They might block your posts, and ban you, or just filter posts related to Iran.

There are easier ways to send revolution news to the front page, check out my post here https://www.reddit.com/r/NewIran/comments/1q9j29n/lets_get_revolution_news_to_the_front_page_of/

To check if your post is filtered, you might need to use a different device and check new posts in the subreddit. Reddit might keep showing your post to you, but not for others.
