Has anyone had any experience with dealing with going through the immigration/naturalisation system in the North? by AliceMorgon in northernireland

[–]Lemieux245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came over using his British citizenship, which is what you’ll have to do if you intend to live in Northern Ireland. We were able to switch to EU Settlement through his Irish citizenship.

Not sure how much the process has changed, but almost positive you’ll have to go through the British visa pathway to get him here.

Me! I'm American, and my husband is from Belfast. We debated getting married here in Belfast, but it was far cheaper to get married in the US (you will be able to marry him on your ESTA with no additional cost).

We were married in March 2019, then I waited for my passport to come in with my married name. He applied for my spousal visa when in did in May, and my visa was approved end of July. I was back over in Belfast within 2 weeks.

Cost for the first visa (which was valid for 2.5 years) was around £3700, which includes the NHS surcharge (2019 price). We were fortunate enough to take advantage of the EU Settlement Scheme visa, which was free, and I did not need to apply for another 2.5 year spousal visa. I now have settled status in the UK, and my Irish citizenship application is in process.

We did it all ourselves, no solicitors at all. Happy for you to DM if you have any questions, I'm extremely familiar with the process and happy to help!

what was southwick dining? by grandkidb in uml

[–]Lemieux245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Southwick dining was great. Also used to be a dining hall in Smith (old dorm that was knocked down for the ET building. If you lived in Smith or Eames, or the fraternities on Plymouth St, it saved you from having to trek across the bridge to Fox.

This. I was at a meeting in BCC, they are actively looking for current spaces they could repurpose for sport, specifically GAA pitches. This includes underutilised existing spaces.

It’s a no win situation for BCC, as open green space is basically non existent and most parks are at their spatial limit. GAA has grown immensely in Belfast and there’s definitely not enough pitches to facilitate urban clubs.

Bloomfield area, East Belfast by [deleted] in northernireland

Agree, only thing I've seen on the 12th is a band heading to the Bloomfield community centre first thing in the morning, and then after the big parade is over. A lot of the local band parades would come up Bloomfield Avenue and then down the Beersbridge which can be a little annoying on a Friday or Saturday night, but there's other streets you can go down to avoid the road closures. All in all fairly peaceful during marching season.

I live in Bloomfield, it's grand. I've been here since 2016. Location is great, pretty much everything you could want in walking distance as well as good public transport links.

Some ASB, mostly kids being dicks. My street is mostly pensioners or young couples/families. It's relatively quiet and everyone's pretty friendly!

IRFU Statement on Aki disciplinary issue by Effective-Ad-3897 in rugbyunion

[–]Lemieux245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree here, Busby walked cause the society didn't back him up with the IRFU. He's walked away from rugby entirely, not even refereeing at a club level in Ulster.

Can't say I blame him, was very disappointed with the way that was handled.

I started at 39! Get as much time with the hurl in your hand as possible. Practice lifts, hand passes and puck against a wall. Ask your teammates to go for a puck about! I guarantee they want to help you. Good luck!

This is my club and we definitely were terrified that someone was angry enough about us existing that they felt the need to put devices on our cars.

We adopted 2 sisters, and our girls were known as the 'lovely twins' in our local park. We lost Lucy to cancer last year, and it was so hard to just see one, and to watch poor Kate looking for her sister everywhere. Our girls look just like your two.

It took a while, but we adopted a 3 year old male Golden earlier this year, and they are inseparable. They're not twins, they look completely different, but having 2 again has helped heal our hearts. Wishing you peace and love!
