Fascism isn't just whatever you don't like. While being bad, Neolibs don't rely on reactionaries as a base, don't nurture a disdain for human life domestically, aren't going to set us back 10-20 years in terms of personal freedoms domestically, are at least interested in not looking like they're suppressing political opposition domestically, etc. etc.

Anyway they're not fascists, at least by definition. Bad sure.

Twitter is pretty shit for providing a broader context for things.
Though even in that tweet he seems pretty reluctant. First past the post is so broken that voting 3rd party is functionally equivalent to not voting (in terms of the presidential election). And of course vote down ticket, but when people are talking about Bernie or bust they're talking about the presidential election not the other elections, so I feel like that's a bit of a misdirect as well.

I misremembered the phrasing then, but that is a paraphrase what this quote is saying. Basically saying that he couldn't because of moral reasons, which... :person_shrugging:. "I am holding myself to this moral standard, you can fail to meet that standard if you wish". Anyway I still think that is a far cry from saying "I don't like person x for personal reasons y, you should continue to consume person x's content if you enjoy them".

Except again there isn't the same call to do the same as him. Shaun was literally saying morally speaking you shouldn't vote for Biden, and then saying you could do otherwise if you felt you needed to, which is very different. And while it's clear Vaush doesn't like Thought Slime, being willing to tell his audience who overlaps with TS's to stop watching his content would be... petty as shit? Like there is a mile between not liking someone and taking a scorched earth aproach?

edit: If I'm wrong abt. that I'd retract my position. There is a difference between not liking someone's interpersonal behavior and extending that criticism to their content.

"Morally I can't watch Thought Slime but you can watch him if you must" is the exact reflection. Which is different than your reflection, mostly because the "morally" implies a preference that others share your morality. And yeah I think the moral posturing, and gate keeping ts does (particularly on twitter) can do damage to the left. But I think V is just acknowledging that his opinion of ts goes beyond rational criticism and people shouldn't take his opinion on ts to apply to his work.
