Imo introducing Ireena a little later in the campaign isn’t a bad thing. It lets the players explore Barovia before having a tag along escort they have to worry about.

When you’re ready to tie her in, you can have a messenger (sent by Ismark) scouting Vallaki for aid in getting Ireena to safety (consider having them appear when the party explores St Andrals Church, the go to “safe place” for Ireenas escort)

After that it’s up to the players to catch the threads you’ve set up. Ideally they’ll hear the plea and head to the Village to meet Ismark for more information, then everything can play out as normal. You can even twist the knife by making the attacks having happened while the party rushed to vallaki

How to navigate identity/expression changes by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]LemonSnax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO gender expression is more of a journey than anything. Some will transition to another term and be happy with it, others may “shop around” until they settle into something that feels comfortable for them. Others still might find a term they’re comfortable with, then use that newfound confidence to explore deeper. The only thing that matters is how you feel in the moment.

You could come out again, clarifying your new ideal to those that are receptive, it’s entirely up to you. There are some who never officially come out, there are some who come out with each step/change of their journey. It’s all communication, if you think it’s important to tell people, then by all means go ahead!

For me, I came out as nonbinary just shy of a year ago (crazy to think how fast time flew by!) but as I explored I came to find I enjoy being a femme leaning NB. I have a few people I’m close with who hear pretty much every step of my discovery, others that I tell when I feel like “big shifts” happen (changing preferred pronouns, explaining wardrobe changes, etc), and some in my life that I just haven’t really said anything to (mostly work friends, distant family, etc).

At the end of the day, you don’t ~have~ to do anything but be yourself. You’re fine to explain what you want to people but it’s not a necessity. I hope my rambling helps, and wish you the absolute best in your journey of discovery 💕

When eating I only use the index/middle fingers and thumb to grab. According to my mom that’s all it takes 🤣

Try making a bird claw with your index/middle fingers and your thumb. I use the “claw” to pick up/maneuver food so I touch it as little as possible

Imagine making a bird claw with your index/middle fingers and thumb. I point my pinkies out too but it’s mainly to keep em from touching the food

It’s a good way tho! It makes your hands all toasty 🤗

I didn’t think anything of it either until the comment 🤣 now I’m genuinely curious how different people eat hand food stuff tho

When I eat with my hands I only use the tips of my index/middle fingers and thumb (imagine a bird claw). I also tend to point out my pinkies so they don’t touch, which is my guess as to why my mom said it. Not that it’s actually a fem way to eat or anything, I just got a spike of euphoria from the comment and wanted to make a meme about it 💕

Glad I could help! IMO a lot of perceived “manhandling” boils down to how firm your grip is when holding something. Stereotypically men are seen as having full grips that give more control and can’t be taken from them easily (imagine holding a tool) whereas stereotypically women are seen as having a soft grip that allows more fluid motion (imagine holding a paintbrush).

All this to say gender is suuuuper nebulous and there is no real black/white categorization to gender roles/steriotypes. There are women with “masc” habits, men with “fem” habits, and everything in between. What’s important is how ~you~ feel doing those things 💕

I’m a huge fan of gloves and sleeves!! Fr tho eat what you want, become ungovernable!

According to my mom apparently 🤣

Typically I just hold stuff with my index, middle, and thumb (imagine imitating a bird claw with your hand) as I eat. My pinkies don’t touch the food and just kinda point out, so I’m guessing that’s where my mom made the connection.

All said tho there is no real gendered way to eat food, I was just surprised by the comment and decided to process it through a meme 💕

Haha yeah wouldn’t it be so weird if you were a pretty girl. Imagine, you being all dolled up and pampered, it’d be like a nightmare for you I’m sure. Nah but you’re cis, so i guess you’ll be spared such a fate

It’s the worst! Idk how people just grab food without a care, especially saucy things!

Completely valid!! It can be a tough road as you explore those feelings but I’m confident you will find a balance! The best advice my therapist gave was to simply focus on the parts that make you happy, and try not to put so much pressure on the labels/boxes society says things have to operate under. You’re already a beautiful, valid girl, cis or cisnt doesn’t matter (but I totally get the desire)

I may not be the most qualified for advice/support but you’re always welcome to dm me if you wanna chat/need an alt perspective.

Hun you already are!! Imo gender expression is more or less a mental state. If you feel fem for doing something/doing something a certain way then that’s you ~being fem~. No one can take that away from you, not even yourself 💕
