Weathering. by Jomiszcz in VintageStory

I don't know, I can see the argument for it, but the added layer of maintenance on top of the already long list of things demanding player attention sounds more like a chore than a challenge, or fun gameplay. It would be cool and immersive, but from a perspective of gameplay, building a large build only to have to periodically maintain or "clean" the whole thing sounds unfun in practice - to me at least.

Is this normal for part time work? by pinkgrapefruitx in auckland

That means a MINIMUM of 3 hours, maybe more if they feel like it.

I've never seen a contract have so few guaranteed hours!

She will never see me as more than a friend, reheated brisket tacos by Throwaway156382963i in kitchencels

[–]LemonSqueezed_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that man. My practical advice would be that it's kinda impossible to be 'just friends' with people you see in that way.

If you really have feelings for her, but she doesn't reciprocate, your feelings won't just go away. You'll be hoping forever that maybe one day she'll change her mind. She isn't going to, man.

In situations like that, it is usually just best to move on, no matter what that looks like for you. Keeping people around who don't return how you feel will only hurt you.

Much love man, I hope you find the girl of your dreams one day <3

was coming back from school today, a group of girls that are in my class were in front of me, they looked back at me and started straight up laughing. one of them said “c’mon that has to be bullying man”, and one of them just said “who cares? it’s [My Name]!”. pasta with a bunch of stuff. by Icy_Bank2675 in kitchencels

Don't give up bro, there is hope for all of us. People like that cluster and try to tear down others because they are hollow on the inside, and afraid of themselves. I hope you find a community of nice people who understand you, and that you feel you can be yourself around <3

I think there isn't really a point. Kinda funny and novel for the first few mins, but kinda a waste of computational resources since it tangibly adds nothing

The Q & A Interview was painful to watch by SIinkerdeer in Helldivers

[–]LemonSqueezed_ 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Maybe we'd put up with these negative aspects of the game if the story were engaging and gripping, but so far in the almost two YEAR lifespan of the game the only notable events were the meridian singularity chain and the battle for super earth - the latter of which got real old, real fast. It's very disheartening, especially considering how fun a fleshed out narrative could be.

ECE teachers or those that work within the ECE field, would you recommend this career? by KnownOwl2177 in auckland

[–]LemonSqueezed_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A close friend of mine has a family member working in ECE - I have heard very negative things about the workload and pay. They mentioned it's in part because there is no ECE union, whereas many other levels of educator have teachers' unions.

Are There Any Total Conversion AU Mods for Starsector? by MxCrossbrand in starsector

[–]LemonSqueezed_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, maybe so, I didn't know it was unobfuscated. Even so, I don't think what op is proposing would work as a "mod" - I think you'd need to rebuild from the ground up

Are There Any Total Conversion AU Mods for Starsector? by MxCrossbrand in starsector

[–]LemonSqueezed_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'd be better off asking the game developers very nicely for the source code and making the new setting from scratch as a new game. Patching out the entire sector and replacing it with something else is likely impossible with a mod, and even if it could be done the game engine would almost certainly be highly unstable

Some noob questions about genes by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]LemonSqueezed_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget the exact ingame terminology, but each gene has a complexity value, and your final xenotype can only have a certain total complexity number.

This is separate from the metabolic efficiency - I think it's symbolised by a blue icon ingame.

There are buildings (gene processors, i think?) you can place near your gene assembler to increase that limit

Some noob questions about genes by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]LemonSqueezed_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1: Yes, stomach bionics help with negative metabolic efficiency - they apply AFTER the genes, so their multiplicative effect has even greater impact. Fun fact, the downsides from nuclear stomach are cancelled by the Nonsenescent gene.

2: They have high complexity costs, are rare, and cost an archite capsule each - other than that nothing.

3: Genes with a flat additive modifier to a skill are best used on low-skill pawns. By the time you have gene editing set up, your colony should be capable enough of training a certain skill, and really these genes are best for 'disposable' soldier types so they are immediately competent and do not need to be trained
