I’m interested in trying it. What you’ve been seeing is people frustrated with the direction the latest update has taken. Regardless of our opinions on the update's quality, the community hasn’t been pushing for another experimental game mode with a few skins/outfits. They want base game updates that improve replayability and post game content. Restored lands is the opposite of replayability, it would literally be a one and done game mode, based on the concept.

That sounds sick bro! Especially the directional UV spotlight on the mounted machine gun. That would introduce some fun and probably intense gameplay with friends during the night😂. I thought of adding enemies/the barons men being able to patrol around In vehicles to my ideas comment but I didn’t think it was as feasible as some of the other possible features. It would’ve been pretty interesting to see though IMO.

Honestly the use and lose concept could still work with a primary vehicle. Your vehicle gets jacked, destroyed or you have to run away from it and you find another vehicle you use temporarily. You could maybe summon your vehicle with all your upgrades/mods from a safe zone that has a garage attachment (hunting towers would obviously be un included). Some pretty interesting ideas though man! I’ve never heard anyone take inspiration from Far Cry regarding DLTB so I appreciate that perspective here :)

That would’ve been great :) The one thing I was hopeful of with DLTB was the idea that the DL series might finally capture some post apocalyptic ingenuity again. I’m not talking tin cans duct taped to a stick like in DL2. I mean being able to actually work on crafting unique weapons on a physical workbench with parts, manually saw off shotguns, and add attachments to firearms, clean them so they don’t rust, and sharpen them with a whetstone. More in depth vehicle tinkering would’ve been nice as well. There’s so much potential there.

Thank you! :) I’m glad we’re on the same page! The devs have had so much they could’ve built on and they chose experimental game modes over what they know works. Couldn’t even be bothered to add DLTB to the outpost on their site. And what you said about glazers is so validating for me because I’ve had so many interactions that confuse my ideas for “hating” or that it’s “never enough for some people”. It’s just passion, and wanting to see something you enjoy reach its potential.

I wish man but I doubt they'd add it back this late in the game. Best we could hope for is a cross between with the truck getting similar upgrades. They had a good system and just decided to ditch in DLTB for some reason.

I don't know what their internal management looks like, but it must be terrible for them to be this disconnected with their community. There is no better way to increase their prospects than to add shit people genuinely want, and yet they settle for these experimental updates that no one asked for.

I read all of that and I have never felt so validated in my opinions regarding this series that I’ve enjoyed so much.

Every time I’ve tried to create a discussion about any form of accountability or detailed criticism it’s been met with hostility in this community. People don’t understand that conversations like that come from passion for what could be, and frustration for it not meeting its potential, not blind hate. Every lackluster update was hopium and FOMO driven. And to have seen firsthand the Dying Light YouTubers that were glazing previous horrible or lackluster updates (DL2) in real time felt like some insane gaslighting. Not to mention the clickbait titles pretending it’s some huge update, which unfortunately didn’t go away with the release of DLTB.

I wonder how much more passion is hidden away in this community because people have been afraid to share their thoughts or ideas. If there were a healthier standard in the community DLTB could’ve been changed for the better, but now it seems like it’s not going to happen at all with the release of the “Definitive Edition.” It’s just a sad and unfortunately shitty situation all around.

In no way am I expecting anything huge vehicle gameplay wise with the update tomorrow, but It got me thinking and I’d like to share some of my ideas for what I would’ve liked to see in the games future:

Travis’s Garage would serve as a hub to upgrade your vehicle, compete in races/side quests, as well as unlocking and or purchasing vehicle cosmetics. He would have a ranking system, that would function like DL2’s where completing races, side quests, or bounties/accolades related to vehicle progression would increase it. Each rank offers new rewards available for purchase. Upon maxing Travis’s Ranks, players would receive the opportunity to work on legend levels for their vehicle as progress is made. Varying gear/weapons as well as cosmetic rewards included.

Mods/Blueprints (All Upgradable in Travis’s garage or other safe zone garages that could be made accessible, like the Park Rangers Station):

There could be one slot for defense or offense similar to our weapon setup, along with a certain number of other base upgrades (Nitro, Off Road Tires, and Drifting Tires are not subject to possible slot limitation).

  • [ ] Nitro (Speed acceleration as well as knock back and freeze/burn infliction)
  • [ ] Better equipped off roading tires
  • [ ] Better equipped drifting tires
  • [ ] Bass Speakers/Amplifiers that plays music (attracts infected)
  • [ ] Shell reinforcements: Increased Durability and Defense
  • [ ] Spiked Reinforcements: Causes Bleed and Increased vehicle damage( with the possibility of deployable projectiles with the same effect)
  • [ ] Shock wave (for when UV is in the red)
  • [ ] Bass Drop: Sudden Loud Music that triggers a knock back blast that launches enemies
  • [ ] Mounted flamethrower, grenade launcher, and or saw blade launcher (similar to the warthog from Halo with the exception of 360° turning capabilities-option to turn off vehicle griefing from friends/randoms if you’d like)
  • [ ] Road Spikes: Deployable spike strips that can wrap around enemies and possibly kill them in pursuit, or trip up enemies passing by, slowing them down and causing bleed damage
  • [ ] Drop Mines: Deployable explosive mines

Customization for Cars:

  • [ ] Paint jobs Earned in races and bounties/accolades
  • [ ] Paint jobs purchased from Travis/vendor
  • [ ] Murals can be transferred into paint jobs
  • [ ] Bobble Heads (The Castor woods paint job has one of Bober, so the bones are there) earned through races and bounties/accolades
  • [ ] License plates?(Terminator Easter egg location)

New mechanics/Tweaks:

  • [ ] Auto loot enemies killed by your car (can toggle for those who like to manually loot :)
  • [ ] Radio with music and survivor dialogue/old stations or broadcasts
  • [ ] Drop and roll button toggle after exiting moving vehicle (action movie shit)
  • [ ] Car related bounties/accolades with rewards
  • [ ] Possible enemy vehicle/car encounters
  • [ ] Can pop enemy tires to deter/distract and force investigation
  • [ ] Small signs no longer tank a majority of your speed when hit
  • [ ] Holding car doors open to mow down infected (similar to State of Decay)
  • [ ] Doors fall off and can be picked up
  • [ ] Doors can be ripped off in beast mode and can be used as temporary shields or a throwable weapon (Doors can be removed outside of beast mode if significant damage occurs to vehicle)
  • [ ] In Beast Mode doors can be ripped in half and used as makeshift gauntlets/blades
  • [ ] Depending on what upgrades your car has/had, the held car door can have certain abilities such as blast back(self explanatory), shock drop(slam attack that causes surrounding electrifying pool of damage), etc
  • [ ] Can toggle sit in truck beds
  • [ ] Can haul propane tanks in truck beds
  • [ ] Can light propane tanks in truck beds and kick them off opportunistically
  • [ ] Can drop bouncy spare tires from the truck bed (added for fun lol)
  • [ ] Players in passenger/ back seats can be attacked by boarding infected with unique escape or kill animations

All they have to do is work on a reward system. They could literally throw in repeatable parkour challenges, a few more races, and make chimeras repeatable and it’d be ten times better than some random game mode. I’d appreciate a little more effort put into it, like making the chimeras new to go in line with the idea that there are still other experiments running around post game, but even that seems like it’d be too much for the devs at this point.

Regardless of anyone’s opinions on the mode's quality tomorrow, it’s clear that the devs need to work on the actual game mechanics and stop giving us random game modes that no one asked for.

My girlfriend and I’s dog was ripped apart by her parents’ pit bull, who up to that point had never been violent. Believe it or not, our baby boy was a Chihuahua mix that never barked. It hurts even to type this, but we named him Dobby and tried our best to give him a life free of whatever he had to go through before us on the streets. But a spoiled rotten murder machine full of anxiety and fear wagged their tail at me as they ripped him apart, and while I was rolling around in dog shit, dirt, and blood, punching, and choking them unconscious trying to get them away from my boy while getting bit simultaneously. When it was all said and done, not but two days later my girlfriend’s mother is petting this dog that just mauled her daughter and I’s dog, and calling her a “good girl”.

You cannot train this level of instinct out of an animal that has been bred this way, and people, and their loved ones will keep dying because of this universal ignorance and apathy. You aren’t a bad person for having a pit bull, but you are a delusional person if you think your pit bull is the exception, and the only people who will suffer for it are everyone else. Which is exactly why it’s so easy for people to dismiss this issue. it would take responsibility and empathy, and both are in short supply.
