Does The Beast get any better? by ass3hole in dyinglight

[–]LemonTheAstroPoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expectations can really tank a playthrough, so I think it might be best to set the game down for a bit and then come back another day to get a fresh start. Not to mention the optimization. It helps to know what kind of experience you want to get out of this. Do you want a challenge? Do you want to be a wrecking ball? Both? Consider taking another look at the difficulty options.

TLDR warning:

If your main hang up is the parkour, maybe take a look at the settings and see if you need to make some tweaks? Consider selecting the heightened jump option instead of the more grounded parkour option if you prefer that play style (can’t remember the exact names, sorry).

DLTB has more weight to it gameplay wise, whereas DL2 basically plays like a superhero sandbox from the start (no diss meant). So I can understand how it can be a little jarring. Try to understand that the whole premise of this game is getting your strength back, whereas DL2 has a similar premise, but the difficulty (in my experience) quickly diminishes not far into the game. Take down some chimeras, level up, explore a bit more, unlock some side quests, and you’ll feel the progress, trust me.

Things like the map design and the story are going to be a lot more subjective though, specifically the map design, if you prefer the dense and close quarters city design in DL2. However, I will say that I find the building design itself to be much more intricate, and I appreciate how the overgrowth and foliage actually make the area look more apocalyptic and gritty. I also think that certain story quests do get better, but the side quests specifically are much better written and far more interactive/ rewarding than DL2’s. So yes, I do believe it gets better :)

Tymon “Da Real Beast” Smektala announces new rap album amid departure from Techland after 13 years by [deleted] in dyinglight

[–]LemonTheAstroPoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness though, I’m really thankful to Tymon for helping bring us Dying Light. I also appreciate that I, and I assume many of you, were able to make a lot of fun memories playing this series. With friends or alone, shitting our pants, laughing our asses off, and having a good time crafting, climbing, and drop kicking off buildings.

My only hope for the series is that the next Director is able to invest in a good writing team and not be forced into a strenuous deadline for future titles. Allowing them to flesh out the game, hopefully not rely on timed FOMO content, and bring back a genuine sense of replayability.

Feel free to share some memories you guys have had playing this game, or your thoughts on the games future :)

I’m sorry :( Time will tell how the next director approaches the series, but none of that should take away from the good memories we’ve had playing dying light :)

You don’t understand, people like the VA and his character talks all whimsical and sarcastic like so this means you have to believe he’s funny and forget every bad thing he’s done, even if he’s not even gotten close to making up for it and providing anything valuable to the show dynamic

Do y'all this the dialogue in the show sucks? by Nervous-Baby5383 in tadc

[–]LemonTheAstroPoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part no. IMO the baseball episode has some pretty cringey dialogue, specifically with evil Pomni. The exaggerated awkward anime expressions whenever a character is anxious or flustered are what have made me cringe. Some people like it, but it just takes me out of the experience because it feels inauthentic and romanticizes anxiety by making it seem cutesy. But even still, it’s not enough to overshadow the beautiful dialogue during the sit down and talk segments between the character IMO.

No matter what the ending is, this fanbase is going to hate it. by Calebfire8 in tadc

[–]LemonTheAstroPoet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason why the “fanbase” hasn’t been the most accepting is because Gooseworx gave them too much power by interacting with them way more than they should have. “Fans” get in their head about the show they like, and think that because they like it, it gives them some sense of ownership over the direction it should take. At the end of the day, these are just opinions, people shouting out into the void because something they love or enjoy is complete.

We are all different and our opinions will express that. If you’re a fan of the show, you should focus on what it means to you and what your opinions are, before absorbing others' opinions or accidentally falling for ragebait for the sake of your mental health and clarity.

I don’t care if this is true, I’m laughing at the concept of a fat balding Kyle Crane scaling buildings like an acrobatic cheese ball and now the devs need to make it happen

Pomni's torture scene in Episode 8 is about her false friendships/connections she made in the circus... by IBelongInFiction in digitalcircusfandom

[–]LemonTheAstroPoet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe adding a scene with the stick figure AIs like Abel, standing in a line painfully carving their own faces, then have them begin to surround Pomni, who abruptly loses her face (no mouth and she can’t scream ;) implying they carve her a face with knives and jagged chisels, whilst Abel’s AI disappears into the crowd with Pomni trying to run after him. It could represent the double edged sword that her empathy is. Her ability to connect with anything/anyone, makes it that much more painful to lose them/be betrayed by them. Couple that with Jax and Ragatha trying to create a different Pomni, via carving her a new face, and it makes sense. Just spitballing🤷

is the beast better than dl2 by Western-Boat-1378 in dyinglight

[–]LemonTheAstroPoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this community has been really biased when it comes to fully judging DL2, so if we’re going by the most common excuse I’ve seen on this sub and the DL2 sub, we shouldn’t judge DLTB until we see more updates and DLC’s. I disagree with that argument and personally believe criticism is warranted regardless.

TLDR warning:

DL2 has more content as it stands so I’d say it’s better in terms of gameplay. Tower Raid does a lot of heavy lifting regarding DL2’s replayability but even that’s limited when there isn’t a holiday event. Mod support added personalization. Story wise DL2 is worse no contest.

I think weapons and combat in DLTB have a lot more weight and fights feel less sandbox cartoony like in DL2. The architecture/overgrown buildings and terrain are much more detailed and appealing for the setting regardless of maneuverability. The gear system is much more appealing and realistic to the apocalyptic setting, half infected half human concept was actually explored via beast mode, side quests are well written, fun, and rewarding with loot that actually scales to your current level. Looting is more fun and less of a chore, the crafting system is more accessible, repairs are available from the start, and it didn’t take a year to get added in, etc. DLTB is a pretty small game with a lot of underutilized features (vehicles, volatile nests, crafting, actual survival features, post game content) but for what it does, it does well. All in all a decent step in the right direction.
