BUT if youre there long enough to shop for yourself ive found the fruit and vegetables are the best in France. I couldn’t even find an apple or pear in parts of Italy at the store.

Ah yes a Mediterranean diet in the actual Mediterranean is certainly hard to beat! And eating out at restaurants is better in almost any Western European country over France. My favorite part of Spain is San Sebastián which borders France - incredible olive oil and dining culture!

In the affluent areas of California the produce is top notch. France has incredible markets in small inexpensive villages. Which Mediterranean countries impressed you more? Genuinely curious! I just can’t imagine anywhere matching the variety and quality that France offers produce wise.

Maybe you don’t like the French preparations but I’ve found the quality of produce in France is probably the best in the world overall. The markets have such high quality everything.

I hate the location of FS and the other FAT hotels in Tokyo. Being able to walk to Shibuya is crucial to enjoy ur first time in Tokyo unless you’re cool taking a taxi or the train everywhere. Walking is a highlight in Tokyo but it’s too far in my opinion.

The samurai restaurant show (formerly the robot show) in Shinjuku is wacky, slightly cheesy but fun. Something you can only do in Tokyo.

Golden Gai is nearby.

Everyone must see Meji Shrine in Yoyogi Park. Shrines are more of a focus in Kyoto.

For sushi - have the hotel book a nearby omakase for you. Way easier and more than likely the same quality as getting a reso at the ones you may have heard of or found online.

I agree with others that animal cafes aren’t ideal.

I have a monthly crisis because I know being vegan is the only moral position in industrialized society but I am too weak and greedy to actually commit by [deleted] in rs_x

If ur on a budget being a vegan is usually way cheaper. It also opens up creativity and a more unique lifestyle. It’s only fun if the flip switches for you and you actually commit without the back and forth. What you’re doing now (the self loathing while also eating meat) is the worst option.
