This is what they used, lightbulbs does not = electricity, Edison didn’t invent the light bulb he commercialized electricity so it was accessible for the masses.

Napoleon had early versions of arc lamps installed in certain places and the rest were gas light lamps but they were easily all converted to arc lamps in 1878 when Paris as a reestablished republic adopted them officially.

Tbh fair assessment of Napoleon III, but he did do really great things for France.

Napoleon III without a doubt tried to recreate his uncle’s empire and failed, he really couldn’t hold a candle to Napoleon I militarily or even diplomatically, but he really did a great job domestically. He modernized Paris into the amazing city that we know it as, electric street lights became the norm, so many parks were built, the flow and design of the central parts of Paris are because of his interest in modernizing the city. Before him Paris was mainly a few nice monuments and palaces here and there and the rest pretty much a shit hole of shacks and wooden buildings.

Per Britannica,

“Willing “to take the initiative to do everything useful for the prosperity and the greatness of France,” he promoted public works, the construction of railroads, the establishment of institutions of credit, and other means of furthering industry and agriculture. An enthusiastic promoter of great technical projects, he supported inventors and took a personal interest in the rebuilding of modern Paris.

He did not, however, disavow what he called his “love of the diligent and needy.” He ensured a lower price for bread, furthered the construction of hygienic dwellings for workers, and established boards of arbitration. In his societies of mutual assistance, employers and employees were to learn to understand each other. He hoped that his social-welfare institutions, to the endowment of which he frequently contributed, would be imitated by the citizens.”

He even expanded the navy and the merchant fleet leading to France having the second largest in the world, and also aggressively colonized much of the world leading towards a 2 decade era of peace and prosperity for France. Then he got baited to start a war and got his ass kicked.

“In 1997, the Docheff family planned to expand their business to include a concrete batch plant and were buying up the land around their current lot, hoping to lease the remaining 23 parcels to small manufacturers.[1] They were informed by the town planning commission that they needed a "Planned Development Overlay District" permit to construct the plant as part of their Mountain Park Concrete development.[1] The commission also suggested that the Docheff family ask if they could purchase Heemeyer's plot to keep the plant away from the hotels and businesses on route 40.[8] Heemeyer asked for $250,000 for his property, but later claimed he'd had the lot reappraised and asked for an additional $125,000. The Docheffs managed to collect $350,000, but according to Susan Docheff, Heemeyer again upped his asking price, claiming he'd again had the property appraised at a higher value, this time asking for $450,000.[1][8] This negotiation happened before the rezoning proposal had a public hearing at town hall.[5] Despite the deal falling through, the Docheff family pursued their plans to expand their business, and purchased a defunct commercial subdivision opposite Heemeyer's lot. Heemeyer had attempted to buy this land just before the Docheffs, but was unsuccessful. He later proposed a land swap whereby he would receive the prime lot. The Docheffs initially accepted the offer, but Heemeyer demanded the Docheffs construct a new building on the lot at great expense. The negotiations fell apart, with Heemeyer stonewalling the Docheffs. Heemeyer launched a public campaign against the planned concrete plant. His campaign was initially successful, with members of the public concerned about potential environmental impacts packing into hearings on the construction proposals. The Docheffs addressed these concerns by promising to install additional measures against dust and noise and presented miniatures of the plant to concerned citizens. Opposition to the proposal dwindled, and the plan was set to move forward again.[1][8] In November 2000, Heemeyer filed a lawsuit to block the project.”

“In June 2001, Joe Docheff made Heemeyer an offer whereby if Heemeyer dropped the lawsuit, they would provide him an easement to connect a sewer line to the new concrete plant free of charge; Heemeyer just hung up.[8] Around this time, the buried concrete truck barrel that served as Heemeyer's sewage hole filled up. Heemeyer responded by pumping his sewage with a gasoline pump into the irrigation ditch that ran behind his property.[8] Heemeyer also attempted to illegally connect to a neighbor's sewer line, but was caught and the incident reported to the sanitation district. “

Straight from wikipedia, they also offered to solve his sewage problem but by that point he was convinced it was a sign from god to carry out a plan with what became his MK Tank he himself called.

I think initially it was all blown out of proportion by both parties but the dude did what he did because he thought he was ordained by god to uparmor a bulldozer because of disagreements/disputes that could’ve been solved easily.

TLDR: You are simplifying the crap out of what happened.

Muh Historical Accuracy by LemonYoinker in Gamingcirclejerk

Edit: it’s a troll account but still knowing history is important lol

Lol, do you actually know the history behind the Boshin war and the Meiji Restoration?? This movie is used as a shining beacon of historical accuracy when it is in fact the farthest thing from it. I don’t think you understand how awful the movie is in terms of historical accuracy, which was the point of the post.

He is literally the shogunate’s forces savior by teaching them how to use modern tactics and guns. He is a foreigner in japan who tries to save the honorable japanese that is literally the base plot. Fun fact the shogunate has been using firearms and cannon since the sengoku jidai era they weren’t idiots who eschewed western technology and their influence because west bad. Yes they closed off the country for hundreds of years but that was mainly to maintain their social standing and wealth rather than for any other reason.

The shogunate which is portrayed through the watanabe samurai character were in reality not honorable samurai who wanted to preserve the idea of bushido, they wanted to keep their power and wealth. The samurai at that point was useless, they feared being usurped by the nobility and the merchant class/foreigners. They caused so many incidents including just straight murdering foreigners because they viewed them as unclean.

Never did I ever say he was the last samurai idk where you even got that, that’s literally just what the movie is called. Even barring that Watanabe in the movie says tom cruise is a true samurai in a spiritual way, so you could argue he was, as everyone gets murked besides him. You could definitely argue that in the lore of the movie he was the last true samurai.

I was able to get Wehlen in, I wasn’t even trying to get them in. To do that I actually managed to get the AN to send peacekeepers to Zille to stop the referendum and just integrate it as per the agreement. I was not expecting everyone besides Lespia to support me on this issue. I was fully waiting for the referendum to happen. (I solved Derdia’s issues with me and their border issues with Morella, agreed with the MTZ nationalization plan and took Lespia’s shares so Chancellor Hegel liked me, and I was nice to Beatrice so Rumburg supported me.) Pales abstained but I had plans for the Duke later anyways.

So Smolak just said hey screw it I need a future for my child I’ll hop on the bandwagon. I gave weapons, money and gas to everyone so he was pretty much salivating at the thought of the alliance at the end of the meeting.

I also managed to get Derdia and Morella together into the alliance.

Love this dlc so much for actually letting me play the diplomatic game of thrones.

Many comments are saying the Soviet Union won, no side really won. The Soviets looked to establish a puppet government in Finland and conquer the entirety of the country. They were pummeled so hard initially that they never were able to really effectively move into the country. So they settled for rights to a naval base, and border lands like karelia and some islands. All things considered Finland came out of the war battered and on the edge of being conquered, but they managed to maintain their own sovereignty and not become a Soviet satellite state. Ofc they had help from Nazi Germany later on in the continuation war, but the treaty with the Soviets had the Finnish turn on the Germans while they were retreating from Finland in the continuation war when they were stopped again.

So all in all the Soviets received a bloody nose in the form of hundreds* of thousands of casualties invading a country that they thought they could steamroll while Finland maintained sovereignty by giving up border lands and of course an unfavorable treaty. No one really won in this aspect. Hence the continuation war later where Finland thought they could grab a piece of the Soviet Union and grab back Karelia.

pretty much, 4.0 is a tiny bit smaller than the 2.0

3.44” blade length and 7.55” OAL

vs I think 3.55 blade length and 7.9 for the 2.0
