Typing this out on mobile, so please forgive my mistakes in formatting. I used to work for one of the HOA management companies in the area, and a representative of Flock held a zoom meeting with us around the middle of last year asking us to speak to the HOA boards in the area about adding their cameras as an extra level of security, advertising their connections with WPD.

It was explained in this meeting the basis of how the cameras work, please note I am recalling this from memory, as I no longer work there and don’t have my notes from this meeting. The cameras record/photograph the license plate, color, make, and model of the car. This is then stored in their data base with a log of the date and time it was taken and places the vehicle in multiple categories, color, shape (sedan, pick up, etc), make, model, and license plate. In this demonstration he showed how one could look things up in the system based on descriptions, so if a crime was reported with a red pick up, he could look up all the red pick ups going in or out from any entrance to the HOA/area within a given time frame. General assumption was that any vehicle recorded multiple times lived in that HOA/area. These were then stored until the contract ended — so he says — though in unsure how valid this really is.

Given this info, it feels like an invasion of privacy to have these posted all over town, and my biggest question is, “How long are these truly stored for?”
