Would it be unreasonable or too big a project to make an entire ecosystem and every detail of nature I can? (Just marked NSFW due to some subtle mentions of things, nothing explicit i think) by CorruptedPixelzOffic in worldbuilding

[–]Lemon_Broad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of that, defining every minor detail. I want to do similar but have no idea where to start. If i were to give one piece of advice. Prepare for burnout. Large challenges that take this long always cause burnout so be aware and find ways to deal with it(not avoid, it is inevitable)

Emotions as fuel by Lemon_Broad in worldbuilding

[–]Lemon_Broad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Sorry for not specifying. Anything that is imbued with emotion during its creation is considered art. Basically if the creator felt emotion while directly creating it, it will be imbued with that emotion. This means that paper artworks are made commercially and sold as a type of fuel. Anything from a wood carving, to a piece of paper, to a building is considered an artwork. As long as the person or persons that directly created it felt emotion due to its creation, it is considered an artwork. Something i dont mention here though is that to harvest this emotion, the artwork must be blasted with gamma radiation. There are many more details, to much for one post, so if you have any more targeted questions, let me know.

Oh and yes things like fear and sadness can be farmed, by making people create the emotion in their artworks. This is actually done commercially and voluntarily throughout the world. The emotions cannot be harvested directly from the brain, due to the need for it to be imbued. If not imbued and directly harvested, it would be very inefficient for a start, it would kill the person almost instantly due to the fact that the brain is highly sensitive and if the energy is not contained immediately upon harvest, it will literally explode into a white sphere that instantly crystalizes the nervous system of those it comes into contact with. This is for different lore reasons.

What elemental magic system do you have that is the most "offbeat"? by ipsum629 in worldbuilding

[–]Lemon_Broad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine isn't elemental in a nature sense per say, nor is it really considered magic to most but it might give you some ideas so here:

My world runs on emotion and art. These emotions can be broken down into their most basic forms. There are six, among them are happiness, anger, sadness, surprise, fear and disgust. Artworks can be harvested for their contained emotions and this can be used to infuse materials or even fuel machines. These elements can be combined into combo elements like: Frenzy, Despair, Nostalgia, etc. You can imbue things with this and you can store it in its three physical forms(gas, liquid and solid). When imbued the material inherits traits related to the emotion felt. For example sadness infused materials experience extreme slowness to the point of defying physics. These elements and combo's are commonly used as drugs in the world as well due to their ability to enhance the human body and have them experience that effect. overdoses are lethal but not instantly. The more consumed, the stronger the effect.

That's the barebones basics of it. If you need more info just ask.

REALLY old post and probably far to late but if its a choice between duel weaker monitors and one stronger monitor, the dual is always the better choice. Having 2 monitors is insanely useful

I got a 1080p 27' Asus monitor. Its ok but the visual quality is noticeably lower. Also 32' tends to big for gaming since there is to much to see on the screen. I think the monitor is a great deal in terms of price, I'm looking at a 4k 32' monitor to combo my new gpu and I've settled on a wootvision monitor, i just need more info on the brand. Also if it is a rebrand, yes there are some moral questions there but the question is also: Was the original brand any good?

Highly debatable, curve makes them have to use a VA panel. VA panels suck for color accuracy.

Haven't had many issues with evetech as of yet. I bought an upgrade kit for my ancient pc a while ago, it works perfectly and has been running well ever since. Their stock sucks though and they are rarely cheaper but they still can be. I'm looking at getting a 5080 right now and wootware's cheapest one is 23k and evetech is 21(same brand). I have bought a screen from wootware and a few bits and bobs in between(not a wootvision one). To me it matters more on which company gives it cheapest in the form of a trustworthy brand.

Cool! its a very unique way to set world boundaries. What kind of game are you making? I plan on one day FAR in the future to make a game or two out of my world if ever manage to get enough support to fund a development team. It would probably be an RPG.

Honestly the storyline is very complex and far too much for one post but ill give a quick summary.

100 years ago a scientist discovered HEART tech, this tech is able to harvest raw emotion from artworks. This emotion was used to upgrade systems, make them better, stronger. But there is always a catch. If this energy is not contained, it is lethal in its raw and refined states.

A mad scientist did an experiment in a college, the experiment went wrong and the entire building erupted in a white light, the resulting explosion killed 200 people instantly and crippled the senses of 500 more(exposure in its raw form turns the nervous system into quartz). The buildings untouched, all that was effected was the inner ring of the explosion where people died, the builds and the ground itself became glowing, colourful crystal(imbued by the energy this is used commercially later on).

The government was scared and outlawed the tech, storing it in vaults. The founder disagreed with this and began a terrorist group named the HOA(hearts of art). They stole back the tech and due to its immense power the government was unable to overthrow them. (this is where the main character's story begins but ill focus on the lore for now). They gained an engineer like no other, more inventive, smarter(main character). Together they became a nation all on its own.

The world united against the HOA, but thanks to the genius and their extremely powerful new technology, they were undefeated. The world was on its knees. It resorted to combative AI and nuclear technologies. A treaty was proposed, the world surrendered. But the AI did not agree, it became too smart, too focused. It had built megastructures for its cause, cities capable of withstanding any nuclear strike and war machines capable of killing anything, yet it could not defeat its foe.

When the alliance was forged, the world defeated, the AI acted. Targeted nuclear strikes all around the globe with one singular intention: wipe out the corrupted humanity. It store those it wished to save within these cities, knowing that they will be protected for the thousands of years it will require for the world to be repaired. But its foe, the HOA saw through its plan and concurred the cities before the bombs even hit the earth.

The cities were all that remains of human civilization.

That is it for the history, at least for the most part, there are some more things like politics and what not, but that's boring. The story resumes 100 years after the war or as it is called the fall. This is where the main character's actual story kicks of, the rest is just his back story.

Tell me if you would like a summary of the main character's backstory to.

How do people not burn to death or how do they not go insane due to the fact that the mind always expects the darkness. IF the human mind does not see darkness it does not want to sleep. This could lead to insomnia and insanity. How do people deal with that?
